    EFL extraordinary general meeting

    ago

At an Extraordinary General Meeting on Tuesday 9 June, EFL Clubs voted on proposals in respect of changes to EFL Regulations in the event season 2019/20 is curtailed.

Proposals were submitted by Barnsley and Tranmere Rovers alongside amendments to an EFL Board proposal which were put forward by Lincoln City, Stevenage and Ipswich Town.

Following a vote on each by all 71 Clubs, it was overwhelmingly agreed (by a majority of all Clubs and a majority in the Championship) to adopt the EFL Board’s proposal into EFL Regulations, which now means the following applies in the event a division curtails its 2019/20 season or it is ended by any other means.

Final divisional placings will be determined on unweighted points per game (if required).
Promotion and relegation should be retained.
Play-Offs will be played in all circumstances but will not be extended (beyond four teams).
Clubs in Leagues One and Two will now meet by division later today to formally determine whether to resume playing the 2019/20 season or opt for curtailment. The Championship Clubs restart their season on 20 June.

EFL Chair, Rick Parry, said: “Whilst it has always remained the Board’s position to play the remainder of the season where possible, the decision reached at today’s meeting follows a full and considered consultation period with our member Clubs. The Board has endeavoured to listen to all views and alternative approaches but understands that the decisions taken will not be met with universal satisfaction from all Clubs.

“Today’s outcome ensures that the League and its Clubs remains as faithful as possible to the previously agreed Regulations and that there is consistency in the approach adopted across the EFL in all divisions if required.

“It is clear that the challenges facing the League from the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic are unprecedented and I thank the contribution of EFL Clubs in making this important determination.”

Why not just end the Championship too ?

Why are we still playing on regardless and can't use the same model they've used for League One and Two .

Nowt to do with bigger clubs and money is it by any chance ?

What does unweighted points mean ? Genuine question ,
End the season now would be my choice , and as Animal has eluded too , it's down to money in all possibility , i can understand the importance to league's 1 and 2 , it would cost them a fortune to play out this season ,
so trips to Swindon and Wycombe maybe back on our fixture list 20/21 Season , both have been bogey sides over the years , will the FFP RULES apply this season or next ? It all seems unfair that certain Clubs continue to flaunt the rules , EFL are a spin less never kicked a ball ₩@#£€&$ ,
win 5 arta 9 is our best chance to survive , good luck with that !!! Forza di Reds UTFLWG

BTW all bets off I'm not renewing , thuv killed my pig

Unweighted points means tha just teks league azzit nar stands and divides points by number of games played.

Weighted points adds in factors like--

    - number of ooam games left and number of away games. If thaz say got 6 ooam games left and only 3 away thi PPG would be adjusted upwards

    - strength of teeams left to play. If thaz say 6 games to play against bottom 10 teeams and only 3 against top 10 teams thi PPG would be adjusted upwards

    - number of games left. If thaz say only 2 games left to finish the season the likelihood of the PPG changing a lot would be low, if thaz got 7 games left thuzza higher chance of thi PPG changing. If thaz goora lot of bottom teeams to play at ooam thi PPG would be adjusted upwards.

    John McClilick's gone ooam.

    Av still not edda call.

Basically clubs wia lot of games left mostly at ooam against poor clubs feel the "balance" of the full season's fixture list ent been played art and thev suffered.

This suing Wednesday, Birmingham and Derby as Hoss wants is playing into the EFL's hands. All the EFL will do is wait until the season ends and then deduct just enough points to ensure they don't go down. A better punishment football wise would be for them to be deducted a lot of points to start next season (like Bolton were). Let them start on minus 15 points.

I'm all for League 1 next season providing we aren't hamstrung by FFP and a salary cap.
