Just wondering. 160 squid now. Over 70s have to pay.
What if they refuse.? Tv license man cant enter your home without getting his face smashed in. So how do they get the money.
Not like they can turn your signal off.

Scandalous
160p would be overcharging
Why don't they just revert to advertising like all other channels and make their revenue off that? They are so outdated and time constricted it's a bloody joke. Name me a channel on normal TV or SKY channels that don't advertise. It's the way forward and about time Auntie caught up with the modern world, this way they could scrap the TV licence period. Oh wait what about the mega bucks presenters they have to pay?
Feck em! Drop their contracts and offer them realistic everyday wages the average person has to earn, see how many stay.
I don’t even watch bbc, the sooner it’s put on a subscription the better
It's not like it's seamlessly 1 program into another either. There are ads between, it's just that they're 5-10 minute ads for other bbc programmes.
Also because a lot of the programmes aren't made in house anymore, you can spot the places designed for an ad break filled with recaps of something you saw 10 minutes earlier and waffle.
Basically the TV licence is to watch or record live TV or use the BBC iPlayer.
Netflix, Apple TV, Amazon Prime and other catch-up TV doesn't need a licence.
BBC employ Capita to sign people up for TV licences but you don't have to let them into the house unless they have a warrant, which are hard to get.
Best practice is when they turn up, say nothing, not even your name, certainly sign nothing and politely close the door.
Unless your TV can be seen from the street (e.g. through a window) and you're watching a live TV programme then people watching live TV are unlikely to be caught.
TV detector vans were a scam, they never could detect TV signals.
If you want to be legal and be safe, remove the iPlayer app from your TV (if you can), and from your laptop/ phone/ game console. Disconnect your aerial and/or satellite lead then retune your TV so you have no channels stored on your TV.
You can watch All 4 and Channel 5 catch up TV legally, ITV Player is a bit of a grey area as you can watch live TV on that so probably better to remove that app off your TV too

I completely agree apart from one thing itv presenters get a lot more money if they stuck ads on scraped the licence they could possibly pay em more, the only reason the bbc want to keep it is because the bosses would actually have to do something to earn their money.
If I could compare the channels with food I’d say
BBC would be a expensive microwave meal
ITV would be a freshly made steak and chips
Channel 4 & 5 would be a freshly made vegan special
Sky would be a combo platter with your choice of 6 options
Ukgold Dave would be a fresh Shepard’s pie classic but still good
Comedy and universal would be a chicken tikka
Basically if you was served bbc in a restaurant you’d walk away
Yeah sure I wouldn’t pay it I don’t watch a single thing on bbc it’s all rubbish last time I saw it there was a fight on Eastenders one of em punched the air and guy fell on floor it wasn’t realistic at all you’d get better acting from a 5 year olds pantomime at school. Watch NCIS on sky one that’s drama for you
