    Championship Merry Go Round

The Baggies grab the second automatic promotion spot while Brentford and Fulham who just missed out on automatic promotion must contest the playoffs with Cardiff and Swansea. The Swans having made it to the playoffs with a three point and six goal swing to pip Forest may well consider the Fates are conspiring to return them to the Premier League. At the other end of the table Charlton Wigan and Hull occupy the three relegation slots but who will actually go down is anyone’s guess. The EFL is a complete shambles. How did the takeover of Wigan receive approval only for the club to be put into administration within a matter of weeks? Don’t the alarm bells ring for the authorities when they look at the Cayman Islands and tax avoidance? How come the new owners were not required to guarantee to fulfil their financial obligations on taking ownership? Why did they (the EFL) not tighten the rules in the light of the huge financial pressures being exerted on Championship clubs due to the extended playing season? Who is going to pay for this staggering mess if and when it makes its way through the courts?

Great thread outwood. The Baggies are the EPL perennial Yo-Yo club and do the EFL never learn?

You could see the devastation they have created at Wigan during Paul Cook's interview. Heads must roll.

Hull City finished bottom, a fine example for Burnley fans of 'be careful what you wish for', magnificent modern stadium, a few seasons in the PL, Europa League football, foreign investment. What more could you ask for, what could possibly go wrong ? Well they're playing in the same division as Accrington Stanley next season, and down there with them will be Ipswich, Sunderland and Blackpool.

And don't even mention Bolton Wanderers.

Of course Bolton will be playing in League Two along with Bradford City and Oldham who have also played in the PL.
sinkov-- you did forget that Wigan, Charlton, Swindon and Portsmouth will be playing in League One and they have also had their time in the PL.
In spite of what Leeds fans tell you ---no club has a right to be playing in the PL.

Its like anything else Outwood, rules are there to be broken by the underhand and devious, especially laws made for our governing bodies of our once great national sport which have more holes in them than a sieve.

How the hell Swansea managed to do that I don't know. However COVID may have prevented a potential catastrophe - Cardiff v Swansea at Wembley in the play-off final. The Police would have had to close all the Service Stations on the M4.

I saw a young man in Sainsbury's today wearing a Nottingham Forest shirt.

    I know I shouldn't have said anything but I couldn't resist it.
