That's the world we live in now Ketts. Scared of a dot on a page. Big issue made of practically anything now.
.......to the humble full stop! I have just read that some ‘language experts’ believe that young people find the use of the full stop ‘intimidating’! What the f**k have they done in school? Can’t think of anything further to say. Period.

Our language may be falling into a state of terminal decline unless schools teach the children properly. Next, they’ll be teaching them to count ‘one, two, free.....’. Do things correctly, don’t dumb down to the lowest common denominator.
I have this all the time with my staff Kets when they’re replying to customer email.
They don’t know the difference between his and he’s.
The number of times I see “his not in today” for example.
My own eldest daughter is as bad yet she was brought up to know better.
We’re and were are another one.
I hate it on her when someone writes a post that’s just one solid block with no paragraphs and when people use ‘ instead of , when punctuating.
Most of us make the odd spelling mistake but this total disregard for our language is so sad.
I hate the way our “innit” generation of youngsters seem so intent on speaking like someone from “The Hood” as well, the London youth seem to think they’re from the Bronx.
F u c k I n g “Bro” does my head in and don’t get me started on blacks calling themselves and each other by the “N” word yet wanting to string us up for using it or singing Ba,ba,black sheep.”
The end of the full stop FFS 😤😤😤
Utter w a n k e r s!
I read something about linguists saying the younger generation interpret the use of full stops in texts as a sign of anger. If that's the case they'd positively sh yt themselves with Al's excessive use of exclamation marks. No wonder I'm one of the younger posters on here at 52 🤣 .
I heard this on the radio yesterday where some linguistics guy was being interviewed about this very thing. The example used was, 'John is going' this is non threatening and a good thing. But 'John is going.' That suggests its not good news and they don't want John there. Apparently, the full stop changes the inference of the statement.
It's a load of old b@ll@cks. I could probably get my head around it if it were worded as 'John's a total w@nchor and I'm going to kick his teeth so far down his throat they'll bite his nuts off on the way out of his @rse'. I imagine a lot of the yoof would probably think said linguist is a total dick and doesn't know what he's talking about though 😉 .
This takes the term 'snowflake' to a new level. How the devil can someone be intimidated by a full stop? It defies belief. We've already suffered during the eighties and nineties because of the theory that spelling and correct grammar weren't important. My wife was the Head of a small independent school where one of her staff was an English graduate. I read some of her end of year reports where the spelling and grammar were appalling. Basically, she couldn't string two sentences together. Her excuse was that she attended school when it was deemed unimportant. God help us now then if an individual is intimidated by a full stop!
Don't blame the schools. This is the tests they take at 11.

Anyone find it easy? I don't!
