    O/T:- Brentford Moneyball...

Great bit of 'moneyball' business by Brentford if it comes to fruition...

I think thy paid less than £2m for him initially. Let's hope Notts can begin to do some profitable business like this in the not too distant future.

That's another ridiculous transfer fee. The world's gone mad.

Villa only just stayed up last season, spending £30m on a striker who's never played in the premier league is a hell of a gamble

Always looked a good player last season, certainly better than anyone Villa had up front last season, even taking into account the higher division.

Buying players relatively cheaply and selling them expensively is something every club would do if they could. And obviously if it was easy they would.

Exeter's track record is quite incredible for a small, fan owned club. Watched Ampadu play for Wales last night and now this. They also sold Matt Grimes to Swansea a couple of years back for £1m+. I think all three are born and bred in Exeter.

Brentford in the last 6 seasons have spent £7.8 million on transfers and have made £83 million back. That’s phenomenal especially for a club, that many would argue are a ‘smaller club’ than Notts. This shows if you believe in the project, it can work massively.

Being decent in the Championship is no barometer for success in the Premiership due to the gulf in class, hence why so many promoted teams fail.

I hope he does well but 30m is a massive gamble.

In their situation tho Villa need to gamble. Their strikers scored 7 goals between them last season. Also I believe it's the same manager who signed him for Brentford.

Brentford's wheeler-dealing has been phenomenal tho. Both them and Exeter are very well run clubs. Hopefully we're finally on something like the same track, albeit quite far behind both.
