Assessment of Transfer Window .......... Treading Water

A window where we haven’t gone backwards - but tellingly we haven’t gone forward.

IMO - at the start of the window I thought we needed 4 - and we could then push for a top 8 finish.
    1) Replacement for Brown - well, we sold him which was good business - but so far Frieser hasn’t shown he’s a major improvement.
    2) A centre back - and in Helic I think we have a good signing there.
    3) A replacement for Mowatt - an experienced midfield general. Well we got James - but how effective is he going to be - he hasn’t played for years.
    4) A target man. Everyone surrounding the club including Struber knows we need more attacking options. Although names were mentioned - no one arrived.

Plus of course we lost Ritzmaier and Ludewig.
Glad to see Ritzmaier leave - but the left hand side position hasn’t been replaced.
Ludewig - although his form had dipped in recent weeks (which could have been related to uncertainty surrounding his and Struber’s future at the club) I still think he is a loss to the club.
But Brittain has come in who looks to be a good prospect.

Additional to this is Herbie Kane - a small attacking midfielder - to add to all the other small attacking midfielders.
    However, I’m told he’s a really good player - so let’s see.
Also a couple of development signings have been made who look interesting.

Struber left the club - and it sounds like we are after another continental manager.
    Why !?!?!
I thought the foreign manager was employed so the club could be more attractive to foreign players.
But it seems the foreign recruitment strategy was ditched halfway through the transfer window.
    Why !?!?!

So - at the start I thought we needed 4 - and we could then push for a top 8 finish.
Now - with the loss of Struber - and a damp squib of a transfer window - I’ll be happy for the club to finish above the relegation zone.
But is it fair that the lack lustre efforts of these owners should be rewarded by another season in the Championship???

The timing of Brittains signing could be an indication that the club has missed out on most or all of their primary targets and have had to revert to plan B, C, and probably ended up at Plan Z.
How many players were linked - and NONE materialised.
The Brown money to be reinvested. But was it ???
Again - very little in the way of Priming The Pump - from these supposedly wealthy owners.
One can only assume that the shenanigans in the board room has impacted this transfer window.

I’m really talking about the additional money from the Brown sale - on top of the money the directors must have realised needed spending after the great escape of last season.

8000 Season Tickets sold equals most of match income already in with no stadium costs

Any additional income from match tickets sold swallowed up by opening stadium--police,stewards, turnstile staff. floodlights etc

    Exactly.
PLUS ...... how much would it have cost to bring in a young target man from the continent that might be the difference between 4th from bottom - compared with 4th from top.

Stadium costs ongoing irrespective who cuts the grass including academy set up, still some police, emergency services and security staff have to be present during match days.
We could always cancel the energy contracts and play in the dark !
Come on SB cheer up it won’t always be dark at 7. I hope!

    John Dennis had a shop - e i e i oh.
    And in that shop there was a turnip - e i e i oh.

Fingers crossed us fans can lift the club out of the corner shop mentality.
