    Des O’Connor R.I.P

Hands up all of you that knew , once upon a time, that Des O’Connor played football to a decent standard ? I didn’t. Apparently he played for Northampton Town reserves early in his career. I always believed he only performed on a stage in front of packed theatre audiences.Always the butt of many a mickey take, especially on the Morecambe and Wise shows, he always was able to laugh at himself whenever he was in the firing line. Obviously very talented and also versatile. After all, if you played at the Palladium on many occasions, you had to be good at what you did. They don’t make them like him anymore, that’s for sure.

Never seemed to age, always cheerful and wrote a lot of Morecambe and Wise jokes himself. Hosted the Buddy Holly UK tour.
    A real gent.

If my Ma was still alive she would be gutted, no doubt she will be waiting at the Pearly Gates for a rendition.

One of those entertainers with limited talent, but you couldn't help liking him.

RIP Des, thanks for the happy memories.
