Leyton Orient 2018/2019 - Bonne 23 and then one player on 11. 20 clean sheets that season helped them.

I won’t dispute that you need to score goals to win titles - but if you have a solid defence you can win titles without having to blow teams away.

You win games by scoring more goals than your opponents.
We can’t do that unless it’s a 1-0 win courtesy of a penalty or a injury time goal if this team is as good as you lot reckon they should be finishing games by 70th minute in a game.
At the moment I’m glad we won’t go up this season as next season with Ardley in charge and some of these favourites he’d keep we’d be league 2 whipping boys.

Lee Hughes was the last Notts player to score 20 or more for us. Paul Heffernan managed it in the season we went down under Dearden/Mills in 2003/04 but nobody else scored more than 4 in that campaign.

Something magical seems to happen in title winning seasons. Who would have expected Gary Jones to bag 28 goals for us in 1997/98? how much cash would clubs splash out if that number of goals from a player was guaranteed in a single season?

I think we're beginning to realise just how difficult it is to win any league, no matter what the level. There's almost always some club having that once in a blue moon special year that trumps anybody trying to buy their way to 1st place.
Chances are we're going to have to go up through the play-offs if we are ever going to get out of this hole.

Our potential top scorer is sat on a bench every game up in Scotland

"Sat on the bench" is the telling part of that sentence. I'm sure after scoring his first goal for his club he will get a start now

11 goals in 10 games tells the story. Which is why we’ve only got 14 points from those 10 games.

I didn’t realise until the other day that Thomas has been out with ‘personal issues’, but if you take him, Roberts and Dennis out from the team from last season and don’t replace them, life is going to be a struggle.

True but only Dennis was known to be not available. You can envisage maybe one long term injury to one of our forwards but not two!

When all 3 were available we were scoring more than enough, both being injured at once and for some time has been a real hammer blow.

I'm sure Dennis has spent most of the season injured and is only just getting back into the swing of things at St Mirren. I'm sure once he gets back to full fitness he will start banging them in for them on a regular basis.

You can't deny his goal contribution if the same as last season is a big miss, that said players come, players go and we have what we have. Not being able to call upon Thomas and Roberts has been a blow for sure and 4-2-3-1 worked great for a couple of games but opposing teams soon sussed that one out. We are still creating enough chances to score the required goals, just need to be a bit more clinical.
