    Thanks folks!

I am getting positive responses from Morrisons, but I won't drop this until they have sorted it out.

Just a pity we're not still in the EU, I'm sure there would have been grants from them to cover the restoration of run down areas. Should have done this a couple of years ago.

Point is Sinkov that this is Morrisons property. Why should they receive public money for keeping their house in order?

When we first lived in France we used to watch La Rochelle RU in the French D2, They had two open ends, one ricketty old wooden stand we sat in, and one big modern, brand spanking new, state of the art stand. After a couple games in the draughty old stand we decided to spend a bit more and go in the new one. The first thing we saw in the concourse was a huge plaque, thanking the EU for the money which had enabled them to build this magnificent new stand. There was no mention of my contribution though, as a British taxpayer, and one of the very few countries contributing to the EU budget, no mention at all, the EU took full credit. But that's by the by, if the EU can contribute towards building a stand for a French RU club, why could they not contribute to a fence for a British supermarket, both projects are to enhance amenities for local people after all.

Back in the day I did quite a bit of business with Ken Morrison. He was a proper old tight, Tyke git and he was proud of it too!

thats not only an eyesore - its a public health hazard - whats with the prevaricating, "asking them"....If we as much as drop one of their till receipts we'd get slapped with a fine - and if that fence had fallen onto a public pavement from someones private home - am sure the council wouldn't hesitate in sending a warning !
Same-old hypocrisy - one set of rules/principles for us and another for them - just tell Morrisons/Opus to friggin Sort it - or else !!!

    Spot on Norder!

We have many high winds here in Morecambe, and damage to the fence is pretty regular. Only a matter of time before someone gets hurt, or it smashes into a parked car.

It has been headline new in Morecambe, on the radio and in the press.

As a result, Morrisons contacted me to say that they were grateful for me bringing it to their attention (it has been like that, or worse, since the theme park closed down in 1999. Morrisons have owned the site for 15 years!) and that "As a direct result we have instructed our site managers to inspect the site and provide us with a detailed report of the works necessary to improve the look of the site."

I'll give them a week, and if they haven't responded with a firm commitment to sort it out then the gloves come off!
