Thread: Our new attitude

    Our new attitude

I've posted before about fearing the opposition and bigging them up too much. But I've noticed a distinct change in attitude lately. Take this quote from warne last night:

""I told the lads that if they were at their absolute best tonight I thought they would win. I thought we would be too athletic. We didn't play at the weekend and I thought we would be a little bit fresher than Boro."

In the past that word "would" would have been "could".

Respect the opposition, of course, but dont fear them.

I think IBS could be right. Blackburn, and the manner of the defeat, could be the turning point.

Great stuff. The kitten is becoming a tiger.

    Up the goddam mighty Millers!

That and playing really well at Everton, going toe to toe, not letting up and pushing them close. They perhaps realised if they can do that against a prem team then absolutely no reason to fear championship opponents

My guess is that Coventry was rock bottom for Warne.

Yes it was. We went into it as a game we thought we could win. 2 nil down in 10 mins. Really poor performance.

4 of the next 5 at home as well. If not home support at least there will be less travelling for the next few weeks between quick turnarounds

T'was Coventry first followed by Watford where once again they were 2 down pretty early on. I agree that the Blackburn game hurt us very badly because we should have had a least a point from that game. A change of formation, good news on long term injured players, postponed games which didn't leave us too far behind and a great performance against Everton all made a difference to our approach. For me though key is the players we have acquired over the last 18 months. This a growing team of good footballers who are now showing signs of handling this division. Early days and there will be setbacks but there's reason for optimism.

The only team with 9 pts from the last 3 games is top and the only 5 teams other than us with 7/9pts are 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 10th in the league. We are punching well below our weight
