    A Month Of Sheer Surrender

Did anyone expect transfers in this window ?

Well, to tell you the truth I certainly did, and I am stunned to say the least.

But let us not forget how it could get worse with no new retruits.

What happens if Tarky or Mee, or both together get injured ? Remember what happed without them at the start of the season, we could not buy a win, saying Long, Dunne and Benson is the answer is rubbish as they are not good enough or are too young.

And what happens if Tarky goes in the summer, Clubs will know that we have money for Tarky and will expect more, oh aye and the old excuse "The January Window Is Too expensive" blah blah blah not in an English languige but an American one.

"The 4 re contracted players are like new signings" Another bull sh!te baffles brains saying.

90% of our squad is either too young and untried, too old or not good enough for the Premier League, BFC (blame who you want there are a few candidates) have sat on their arses for far to long letting players get too old without replacing them earlier, so like I keep saying its going to cost (if we ever do spend) much more to get the team to even an average PL Club, but perhaps saying a PL Club is being too optimistic.

Perhaps we are waiting for assets of our own to be sold, Pope, McNeil, Tarky before we spend that money on journey men and aged players just to fill the squad.

But through all of this there has been one constant, its called Sean Dyche, yes he's been good for BFC, but he's also been stale with his tactics and the way he looks at things, he's always claimed he wanted more money to spend on players, but then we get the usual tripe of "they have to be a Dyche type player" and/or "They must not disrupt the dressing room", like I have always said he's a Manager so why the hell does he put those 2 excuses at everyone's door, and when we do get someone of any value (maybe I've had a few drinks with that quote) they have to be Dyche fit before they are even thought of making a debut, not forgetting he has his favourites and its like pulling teeth making him change, surely other players see this and think "what do I want to go there for", not forgetting his unwillingness to trust youth or anyone else for that matter to try and change a game when WE need it changing but is reluctant to get off the fence.

I wanted this takeover, I was sick to the back teeth of Mike Garlick and his amataur ways, its looking like I was 100% wrong about ALK and Alf was right all along, especially now with the reports coming out left right and centre about ALK, seems we have jumped out of the fire and into the frying pan and Mike Garlick has let it happen with money in his pocket and a return policy to put us through the mill again with maybe his backdoor return, it may be a funny old game, but its also a very Phucked up one.

Couldn’t have put it better myself , owners say funds available Dyche doesn’t spend when it’s so apparent to all and sundry we need recruitment, I’ve posted on another thread re - new contracts for old players and I’m gutted this isn’t how it was meant to be - it’s stale and sliding the wrong way on a slippery slope.
I love Burnley and have since my dad took me as a small boy - but at the moment I’m really dis illusioned with it , it’s not fun anymore watching teams enjoying 80% possession and us simply not being in games.

Is it the players ? The manager and tactics ? Is it rotten to the core ?

Personally I don’t think we can sustain this much longer - the pandemic isn’t helping and people are genuinely falling out love with our club.

I get your drift Alto, honestly I do.
My concern is if 20 odd first team squad members share your view Alto, we are well and truly skewered.
    Moi? Disappointed - Yes.
    Shocked - No.
Now the dust has settled on the new ownership, it is fairly obvious Garlick gave ALK/VSP the club's money so they could buy him out and he could sail off into the sunset fully bankrolled.
Alan Pace has taken full control of an EPL club for the remarkably cut price bargain of £15,000,000 from his own resources.
The rest is levered against Burnley Football Club's own assets.
Not quite sure how the EPL could allow this type of "levered buyout" to happen.
I wonder how Sean Dyche really feels this morning?
If he shares Alto's narrative, the wheels will fall off faster than my first attempt to build a pram wheel trolley did.

[QUOTE=Altobelli;39691139]Did anyone expect transfers in this window ?

I posted this on my group and whilst doing it I was fuming at the club and kicking a door down. I toned down my comments because I don’t want two fractions at war with each other! I think there are actually three factions, the gullible who seem to think Burnley is a small town club and will always remain so! The ones that seem to get a kick out of continually seeing us in a relegation battle and never think it’s worthwhile moving on! Then we have the Fantasists who think we should buy a new team and spend millions! Well I think the third group are the realists like me who look on in disbelief at a club who with six years of Premier League revenues and TV revenues can’t even bring a ****ing loan in!

OK that’s the rant here’s what I wrote in my group:

Disappointing deadline day yesterday I would say keeping my emotions under control. I have vented off steam elsewhere so all I want to do here is state a couple of facts which might need to be used in the future:

    1. Of the 21 clubs in the Premier League, 13 managed to bring in at least one new face either bought or on loan

8 clubs didn’t therefore and sadly Burnley were one of those clubs 🙁😢

    2. Of the four clubs below us only bottom club , Sheffield United did not freshen up so West Brom, Fulham and Brighton did add at least one new face

Of the five clubs above us only Leeds made no additions. The clubs that did were Newcastle, Wolves, Palace and Southampton

I am closing this thread to comments because it’s time to move on and focus on the games ahead.

Seven points from the February games should confirm our safety I think and progression to the FAC 6th Round would I think lift spirits after another miserable transfer deadline day and fruitless January transfer window

Sad to say it....but I think, just as much of the everyday that we recognise is being laid to waste - it seems Football is heading the same way - meaning, whatever Sean Zedung decides for us - changes that will effect the whole game, are here regardless - it's been decided, for them, and us. It's peaked, been pushed to the limit with insane greed and big money need - now, they want next level - a new play on the game...we've all seen it announcing its arrival - the sanitised and confusing, those Rules..etc - complicating the simple - so opening the way for Algorithms and Artificial applications to distance us further from the natural - with more heads buried in their mobile screens, advertising, sponsorship, merchandising,...etc etc - all about tech, it the next big earner for them - the digitally connected fan...the virtual experience, satisfying every need...communicating shlit - if we let it !

Me too Alto, I saw the interview around the time of the takeover, Mr Pace seemed genuine and credible, he said Sean would no longer be frustrated in the transfer market. Well we've tried to sign players, just like we did under Garlick, and we've been frustrated, just like we were under Garlick. Mr Pace was talking out of his backside.

Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice, shame on me.

We've been bought out by charlatans, god knows where we go from here, but it's not likely to be onwards and upwards.

Alto can only agree with your sentiments but I don't know where it leaves us now. I suppose we can rely on signing one or two out of contract players and from the list I have seen there are quite a lot but to be honest despite all the accolades SD gets my impression is he has no football wide influence to coax players to BFC. When he eventually leaves no matter who takes over will have a mammoth task to convince players that BFC is a good place to come.

That's true Lancaster, your last sentence. We've never been a fashionable club but we have history, but what will be remembered is Burnley's (Dyche's) style of play, unattractive, backs to the wall, negative football totally reliant on exceedingly good goalkeepers. If a player has a choice of more than one club I suspect we will always be bottom of the list, not a happy place.

A bit of friendly advice for Alan Pace.

Number one rule for our new owner: following yet another transfer window debacle at Turf Moor and it is obvious your recruitment team have screwed up as usual; never, ever blame them publicly.

When your new club’s supporters vocally disapprove in their thousands of your new club’s non-existent transfer policy and the $hit hits the fan, you simply must stand up and take the can for it.

After that, discuss with your team privately about what happened and how you can improve the situation together and then sack Mike Rigg.

Just realised my maths is ****! There are of course only 20 clubs in the Premier League not 21. So out of 20 Burnley were one of just seven that didn’t bring a new face in not even a loan. 13 clubs found a way!

I’m speechless to be honest. It will all be forgotten though until the summer should we avoid the drop but we are still not theoretically safe by any means and shouldn’t be complacent! Just hope we don’t rue the month we failed to freshen up in any Department!

I think it was someone on my group who said ‘ Never mind we now have more money NOT to spend in the Summer!’
