Barnsley v Blackburn Rovers Match Thoughts

Val promising some fresh legs with this our third game in 6 days .

Quite who those fresh legs are is open to debate .

Woodrow for certain I reckon , Kane , Sibbick , Freiser and then it's an interesting conversation .

We always think about the front lads and keeping them fresh but you'd imagine Brittain , Styles and Mowatt must be feeling it too .

No doubt another tough game awaits from a very capable Blackburn outfit .

Always a tricky game against Blackburn. They have such a strong squad that knows this league inside out and are capable of getting points even when not playing particularly well. In Tony Mowbray, they have a manager who knows the league well and have match winners throughout the team. Always loitering around just outside the play offs. Its these type of games like against Cardiff that the reds come a cropper. Think one goal the difference, 2-1 reds.

    Yes they have.
But Barnsley play a style of football that is probably new to the English League and might be new to the world of football.
I haven’t seen another team play exactly like Barnsley.
Other clubs are currently trying to work out how to beat these tactics.

Before the January window Val didn’t have the full quota of players to fully apply his style of football.
While the window was open there were some comings and going’s in the team which caused a dip in form.
Val has more or less got the tools for the job now - that is enough players that are good enough to see him make a success of this season.
Unless we have an unlucky day - young players making silly mistakes, which can happen - then any opposition in this league will have to play to their highest level to get a result against Barnsley now.

Jordan Williams will be in this week. First start for a while I think. Wouldn’t surprise me to go for quite a defensive formation. Some quick fellas up front have Blackburn.

Freiser , Dike and Morris to come on after 60 minutes I guess .

Managing this pretty well is Val but as I said in the OP , Mowatt , Brittain and Styles must be feeling it too .
