If Only The midfield Was Solid From Day 1

I liked Bilic but he lost his job due to the perseverance of the midfield ie Sawyers - Livermore - Phillips and keeping faith with duds like Austin and the Welsh international. Factor that with 36 million chucked away on Grant and Diangana who are championship players - that’s if Diangana actually plays and not in the treatment room!

For the first time since a long time our midfield looked solid so the defence were protected and Diange looked sharp on the counter - his work rate was superb too. Had Diagne, Snodgrass, Okay and Maitland been with us from the 1st match I don’t think we would be in such a dire position - maybe still fighting for relegation but on a lot more points. These four players would not have cost anywhere near 36 million spent on Diangana and Grant even if you factor in the wages!

So who takes the blame? Bilic obviously - Dowling should de the honourable thing and resign and Fat Sam also needs to get his tactics, subs right and keep a settled side!

Sawyers, Ivanovic, Zohore, Phillips, Livermore and the Welsh International are not even good enough for when we drop in the championship - get rid now!!!! I would be looking to beg for Okay and Diange to stay although we would have no chance with Gallagher!

I agree Al - we had far more energy and bite in midfield today. Think Big Sam defends too deep and invites pressure - at this level it only needs one slip. But the Big Man upfront is a constant threat and with a bit more luck could have had a couple more. We also need to hold the ball better .... but that will come if we keep the same players on the pitch .... best performance of the season for me .....

Totally agree Barrera - good performance! Thought Pereira was poor today with corners and free kicks but the huge plus point was the midfield until Livermore came on.
