Hi Phil I have a Sony Bravia OLED upgraded from 55” led
It’s so much better main benefit is that the blocks are real dark blacks and the angle of view is much much better no colour/ contrast fade from the side

The sound is way better due to having speakers behind the screen
Seeing as it only cost me to upgrade from a broken Led was well worth it

Thanks for that - I noticed a 48' LG OLED at Currys website which is about the size I'd like for my sized room. Its often mentioned that OLED is better if the screen is huge ie 65/75' which would really look out of place in my lounge due to the room size. I might invest but Id like to see one in action but due to lockdown I will have to wait a while longer.

I must admit to thinking that the “latest” television technology always seems to remind me of “The Emperors New Clothes”.

Every couple of years you get offered more pixels or HD or LED or OLED.

Let’s be honest about this, it’s hard to buy a bad TV these days.

I get BT Sport free as part of my landline package and the picture is poor compared to the other channels but I think that’s BT making bad on purpose to elicit an upgraded package from me which I won’t do because I don’t watch hardly any football these days.

A TV is a box in the corner of the room that I sit 8 feet away from, I can see it clearly without my glasses on so I don’t get the fascination with “surround sound”, curved screens and definition so great that I can see when Bob Warman has a pimple on his scrotum!

I’m surprised some of you don’t employ a woman with a torch and a tray full of sweets and drinks to assist the experience further.

I’ve had an LG 55” for some time now, it’s a 3D one which is great, if only more films were made for these sets. That said, picture quality isn’t as much a thing to focus on as before. It does come down to processing speeds, but one thing people always miss out is a good sound system for their TV. TV speakers are just so flat and they just are not EQ’d correctly. These days you can pick up a good sound-bar and subwoofers for TVs.. try connecting one up - you’ll instantly notice the difference. Sound is so overlooked and having a decent set up makes viewing experiences far better, but I wouldn’t use them if you’re into the blue movies.

I would rather keep my blurred s hite television BS and then it appears West Brom were not as bad after all - just shocking as opposed to a sheer embarrassment!

Im not one to jump on all the new tech fads although i work in tech so do like to adopt

The OLED however is good for certain scenarios, for example my Bravia LED used to look completely different from the sides and as I have 3 sofas, 2 sofas had a much worse experience from the one that was facing on to the tv

since the OLED its exactly the same from all 3, I also think the motion blur improves with each new TV as the first few generations of LEDs had much much worse performance than my Pioneer Plasma esp for football
