    Sam Allerdyce update

Honest assessment by Big Sam about the future. Totally as expected Mr Lai I am only staying if you are going to give me the tools to do the job. Well said Sam but let’s see how it plays out. Can’t see Lai coming up with the goods myself but you never know how things go.

Quotes from BBC site this morning:

Sam Allardyce does not want to "mess about" if West Brom are relegated and will only stay if there is a realistic chance of promotion back to the Premier League.

West Brom go to Chelsea on Saturday 10 points behind fourth-bottom Newcastle with a significantly inferior goal difference and nine games left.

Their precarious plight has intensified talk around the future of Allardyce, who replaced Slaven Bilic in December.

His 18-month deal has a break clause.

Former England boss Allardyce says the terms of his contract are clear and if the Baggies survive, he will remain at the club.

However, in the far more likely event of them making an immediate return to the Championship following last season's promotion, the 66-year-old outlined a less straightforward scenario.

"It needs both [sides] to agree what we are going to do," he said.

"If one of us disagrees, we hold our hands up and say 'thank you very much'. If we both agree to go forward, we get on with it.

"It's a very complex situation to sit down and look at.

"How much money do they think they need to save? How many key players would they have to let go? What budget would be available?

"If I'm to stay at West Brom, I'd want to be getting them back in the Premier League at the first time of asking - like I did when I joined West Ham. I wouldn't want to mess about.

"But we all need to be going in the same direction to do that."

Fair play to him, I do fear for us if he leaves this will signal Lai’s raping of the club.

Only one direction Allardyce is hopefully going and that’s as far way as possible

Allardyce is no fool, he obviously knows how things are looking and if the chinaman won’t give him adequate resources then I wouldn’t blame him for going. Actually, that is what I think is coming, difficult times ahead, methinks.

Totally agree Ketts - he will already be licking his lips at the rumors of 17 million for Pereira plus the parachute payments and anyone else who could bring in money ie Johnstone. He must be cursing the waste of money on Grant and Diangana too.

Dowling the useless t wat could save around a million a year!

Fat Sam won't stick around with peanuts and who could blame him!

The signs aren't good. Lai is going to want to get as much of his investment back as he possibly can. With us being relegated it's going to be more difficult. I fear that there are tough times ahead.

After the Chelsea performance this question should be put to bed.

If we can keep the squad together and replace Gallagher adequately, sign Gayle or another proven scorer and add a couple then I think we’ll romp it next season.

It’s a shame this type of win has come so late in the season and not 3-4 games ago but never say never, the problem has been stringing back to back wins together this season.

If they can somehow win the next three games before we play Wolves can you imagine the panic at Newcastle and one or two other clubs?

Looks like a good spirit in the squad. Big ask but you never know.

I just hope that today wasn’t just a case of certain players deciding that it is time to put themselves in the shop window......?
