    The Welsh

Every tournament, whether they are in it or not they up the anti english. This year seems to be the worst, as their team exited and ours still in. They can’t bear the national coverage and are on a huge scale digital witch-hunt against England fans, the team, the media, pundits.

I think it’s got a little pathetic now and they really need to grow up. They say things like, yeah England have home advantage- well what about when hosts have won in previous tournament? The comments coming out are so one way.

I don’t trust many of their fans either when they say they want England to win. What a load of bull. They are cursing and jinxing us as they lie through their teeth.

If you go on Walesonline facebook page you’ll see the stuff i’m on about. Obviously I want us to win and winning will shut them em up. But wait for them all to come out and say Italy were always going to win, they were better. Just like in the Rugby final.. pretend to want England to win then come out to ridicule and poke fun of England.

I remember when they goaded England team when we lost to Iceland and Bale was behind all of that and leading the way, saying we lacked passion. They call us arrogant, they should maybe just focus on themselves.

I for one would like the English football league to consist of only English clubs, that would shut them up.

    Anyway rant over.

The Scots seem to have the same dislike of us also. I don't understand it. I watched all of Wales and Scotland games and the only game I wanted Scotland to lose was against us. The rest of the time I was shouting on Wales and Scotland to win. I have some affinity to Scotland as my maternal grandfather was Scottish but there certainly ain't no Welsh in the family as far as I know but still wanted Wales to win. As the Al Murray TV show said, Why Does Everyone Hate The English?

I always think of the Scots and the Welsh as suffering from 'Small Man Syndrome' as in.

'Thus the stereotype is that the smaller male with short man syndrome would be aggressive, likely to shout and talk loudly and seek attention and eager to prove themselves. Many people compare the typical short man complex to that of a smaller dog – which many note are often noisier and more aggressive than larger more docile dogs. Other personality traits have also been linked to Napoleon syndrome – for instance risk taking behaviour and jealousy'

Totally agree but they have this small country syndrome too and it doesn’t help the only media channels they have worth watching are ours.
That said, it kind of reminds me the way some albion fans act towards the vile.

I’m due to travel to Tenby tomorrow😩

I must admit I have suggested to the missus that we wait until Monday before travelling.

I’ve spent a lot of my time both working and holidaying in Wales and there’s a big difference between the Welsh people depending on area.

If you travel up in the valleys into places such as Merthyr Tydvill, Caerphilly, Mountain Ash etc they really don’t like us.

If you travel to north Wales to Rhyl, Barmouth and Aberystwyth then you get a lot of Welsh speakers and the same “little man” syndrome.

In the coastal towns like Tenby I find a totally different attitude and they are much more friendly and they appreciate that us English are important to their economy.

I’m very friendly with a lot of the Tenby locals and I get on great with them and we have plenty of banter about sport.

The truth is that a lot of them don’t really care that much for football and that it’s almost an afterthought compared to Rugby.

They are an amazing country when it comes to talent when you consider they only have a population a quarter the size of London. They were above us in the fifa rankings just a few years ago. They have superstar singers and actors all from a small population. They have tons of admiration from me, but they can be not so inclusive of our successes. That's ok. Maybe if we weren't so condescending as the English can be (you only have to listen to some of the patronising comments from commentators for example) we might win a little more support from our close neighbours. Not arguing with you Regis, just another way of looking at it.

........ I don't remember them being above us in the FIFA rankings a few years ago. It wouldn't surprise me if they were though due to their performances and progress at Euro 2016. Doesn't really bother me either way.

But I wonder how many of the players who helped Wales along the way came through the academy system of the much derided/hated English. Further to that I wonder how many of the Welsh first team squad honed their skills in the League of Wales as adult professionals.

Food for thought perhaps when they get all bitter and 'in your eye England'...... now there's funny isn't it?

I agree and see your point Boingy. It certainly doesn’t help when we have some terrible pundits and commentators.. but these should not be taken to be the view of the nation, sadly the ABE do. I was fuming when Ferdinand and Wright made some very cocky comments lately, they need to be more humble and realistic.

The argument that welsh fans always state that they are not too bad for a population of 3M.. well you have Netherlands and NZ with similar sized populations which they always forget.
The welsh naturally always have a chip on their shoulders.

The point Mick made is true and Tenby isn’t so bad unless you’ve got visitors from those other areas. That said Mick, Tenby or pretty much most of Pembrokeshire are known to have English ex pats in high numbers - so probably a reason they are not so bad. English parents, welsh kids. I know so many of them.

btw HRK isn’t strictly welsh.. surely he’s from England. I’m sure someone will correct me.

HRK qualifies for Wales through a Welsh grandmother on his mom's side. His mom's English born as is Hal' who popped into the world in Acton. His dad's Nigerian.

We were in Aberystwyth a few years ago and we went into a pub, Wales were playing someone at Rugby. I had an England flag on the lapel of my coat.
My wife said they might not like that in here.
    F uck em. I said.
