    Catching the train

How many of you regularly use the train as a form of travel?
I would say I have only been on about ten in all my life. Two of those were in Spain in 1967 when they were still steam hauled.
For years I lived by Deepfields station as well.
I have caught the metro far more often.

Same here Des. I travelled to London in the 90s was the last time I used a subsidised service. But I have been on a few heritage lines lately the last being Swanage railway in 2019 pulled by a Battle of Britain class. You cant beat steam

Had to use the Train to get to and from Kent last year(pre Covid) with a change (of Stations) in London First time in years and thought theres no way I could do this as a regular commute. Never felt comfortable - especially on the Tube between stations and this was before all the social distancing was enforced. Like phild though, can't beat steam hauled heritage stuff.

Pre covid I spent @3 hours a day 3 times a week on the train, thankfully I won’t be going back to that, only positive was when I did get a seat it was a good place to read.

I had six years continuously travelling from Kent to London as a sardine commuter. I only use the train now where driving and parking would be difficult. One of those circumstances will be next week when I go to the Open at Sandwich.

We did Malgrat to Barcelona a few years back Spanish Trains seem much better than those over here (Though did have my wallet lifted in Barcelona Station !!) I've also got a soft spot for the SVR - They've had a tough 18months

Last train I used was from Perth to Freemantle in Australia and from Brisbane to The Gold Coast.

Most enjoyable and relaxing it was as well.
