Issit wuth watchin Eh?
Its always nice to take a big pork fuelled stick to the Fowl pig peddlers lol. Its just a shame we can't do it when it matters in the bloomin League matches.
But hey, two wins this week and a goal each for Morris and Odour, we really could do well to make full use of these two players this season.
Yes I’ve watched it.
Although it doesn’t show all the match it does give an indication of the style of play.
So what’s people’s opinion of that ???
OK - it’s slick passing football - which looks impressive - but we were playing Sheffield Wednesday a lower league club - obviously we should be easily beating teams like Wednesday - but is this slick passing style going to work against Championship teams ???
I doubt it.
And Ismaël also doubted it - hence his decision to change to a more ‘vertical’ style.
There is a risk here we could come unstuck.
Thoughts ???
I haven't seen the highlights Nudger (can anybody show some highlights on here ?), but I am pleased to hear of an attempt to try and play some more possession passing football than usual.
However, as much as I hate the idea of us also needing the terrible route one stuff again, I admit we do need to mix it still and we do need to use that style if and when is necessary. It DID bring us to the dance after all last season didn't it, whether we like to admit it or not.
It made us an unpopular team but also an unpredictable and at times impossible team to play against, so that has to be used as one of our strength's.
Lets not fotget, the fowls got clean through one on one with Walton a few times. Championship strikers wobt mess it up like those conedians.
Decent opposition and we would have lost.
Your forgetting that when Val let them we were capable of playing some pleasing stuff .
The standout example in my opinion was the second half at Bournemouth when we came out 2-1 down and Herbie Kane got on the ball and we passed the ball straight through them eventually winning the game 3-2 .
It was in my opinion the best 45 minutes of football we played the whole season and it was against a team packed with quality players .
Val didn't get everything right Nudge despite him giving us the season we had .
The tactics deployed against Swansea in the two play off games cost us the opportunity to progress to the final in my opinion .
It hadn't worked against the Swans in the two league games and it didn't work against them in the play offs either .
We needed to see more of the type of play that led to Woodrow's equalising goal in the second leg when we broke on them quickly down the flanks with pace with the ball on the deck .
That Callum Britain chance in the first leg also highlighted where you could get at that Swansea back four .
When push came to shove Val was found wanting tactically when it mattered the most in my opinion .
Not a million miles away from an England manager last Sunday night .
It remains to be seen as good a job he did here as to whether he's tactically a one trick pony with a trick that's been acted out so much it's been rumbled .

It's a pre season warm up kick abart to get legs guin. Not worth getting too serious abart imo. Win, lose, draw, concede chances, miss chances- It dunt matter. It's when the serious stuff gets underway in South Wales on Aug 7th when it matters. In the 96/97 pre season we dint win a game but obviously went on to get promoted. All the shape and tactics are deployed on the training ground.
I’m not forgetting owt.
Yes ….. I do realise we could pass it about with the best of them.
However, my point is - the RISK involved in changing a tried and tested successful strategy.
But - I’ve always maintained that the last few managers were all better than the previous manager.
Probably a fact of them building on the work of the previous manager.
So fingers crossed Schopp is better than Ismaël.
