My partner as many of you know works for Barnsley MBC and has done for over 20 years .
She works in one of those buildings just off Pontefract Road behind the East Stand .
The land as we know is 50% owned by Barnsley MBC and the other 50% by Oakwell Holdings which is owned by James and Jean Cryne .
The council are vacating the building and nobody but nobody knows why .
The building is modern and efficient and there's absolutely no reason why anyone would need to vacate that building .
Especially given the premises they are moving in to aren't too great by comparison and I might add it costs a great deal of money to vacate one building and go to another with IT systems etc .
Barnsley MBC aren't exactly a cash rich authority to say the least .
The interesting thing is that my partner gets to know everything at the council but not this time and that's very strange .
Given what we know regarding the dispute between the ownership and the Cryne's this is an interesting development .
It may well be something and nothing but I thought I'd put it out there none the less .
Speculation indeed Animal - Never a dull moment is there?
Well it all went quiet didn't it once the news broke on the dispute last year .
Even Murphy wouldn't be pushed in to giving an opinion other than saying it wasn't within his job description so basically nowt to do with him .
You'd imagine it's not gone away but as far as I know Oakwell Holdings is still owned by James and Jean Cryne and the current ownership haven't fully paid for the club as a consequence .
Those are the facts as we know them .
So have the ownership made an offer to Barnsley MBC for their 50% of the stadium and surrounding land I wonder .
Pure speculation of course but as I say Barnsley MBC have absolutely no reason to vacate that building my partner works in anymore than they would vacate the Town Hall .
That said even if Barnsley MBC have accepted an offer from the ownership it only gives them 50% just as long as the Cryne's maintain their 50% of the stadium and surrounding land .
It's nothing untoward or overly interesting Animal. The building is to be occupied by South Yorkshire Pensions Authority. SYPA administer the Local Govt Pension Scheme for the four SY borough councils plus the joint authorities (SY Police, Fire, etc). SYPA are vacating the Gateway building mate.
I don't know if you remember this Animal , a few months ago maybe 3 , a mate of mine told me workmen were on site behind the ES , the workmen we're they're a number of days , using theodolites and also partially clearing the site previously owned by Barnsley Brewery , I'm not sure who owns that particular stretch of land ? Interest grew around the local community asking questions , shortly after that the workmen disappeared , and nothing seems to have happened since ???? Summats not reyt Darn theer !!
