    Liverpool v Burnley Match Preview

While Burnley were slumping to a 2-1 home defeat by Brighton on the opening day Liverpool were cantering to a 3-0 win at Carrow Road. Van Dijk is back and so are the deposed Champions.

These are times of crisis at Turf Moor. Sean Dyche seems unwilling to commit to a new contract and a long awaited transfer window when things were finally going to happen is turning out to be yet another damp squib. Audible dissatisfaction on the terraces serves notice that a long hard and bleak winter beckons for the Clarets. Ticket prices up, little investment in the playing squad and dismal performances on the pitch are a recipe for disaster. Is everything yet lost? Well no, but you can only run a car for so long with the red warning lights on.

Last year Liverpool away heralded a stunning 1-0 victory for the Clarets that brought to an end Liverpool’s long unbeaten home record in the Premier League. It prompted a collapse in their home form that cost the Reds not only their title but so very nearly qualification for the Champions League.

Andy Robertson will be the only significant absentee for Liverpool. Klopp may ring some changes particularly in midfield where he has Thiago, Henderson and Curtis Jones all pushing for a return to first team action. There are likely to be few changes to the Burnley side that lost to Brighton but Vydra could well come into contention for a starting place.

Prediction. I am unlikely to be watching MOTD on Saturday night but hope to be dumbfounded. COYC!

If we play five across the middle one up top and defend for our lives we may get something ( can’t see it though)
I’m looking as far forward to a encounter with Norwich before we potentially could get points.

Hope I’m wrong and Dyche pulls it out of the that again , magicians and old tricks springs to mind eventually people work out how there done.

Sadly, I think it will be, potentially, a cricket score. It will be the same set up. Liverpool will have 70% possession whilst the scraps that make it through to Woods/Barnes/JayRod will be stifled by the Liverpool defence. McNeil will sulk if it is not going his way. JBG will try but will become anonymous in the second half. The midfield will be overrun. Vydra will, of course, be a spectator.

Good stuff Outwood, comme d'habitude, but I must take issue with one little bit of it, ' little investment in the playing squad'. I stand to be corrected, but I think the money spent on incomings was the Gibson money from Norwich, in effect there has been NO investment in the playing squad.

It is on BT Sport and must not be confused with QPR v Barnsley which is on Sky Sports at the same time! Should be OK because the BBC are not involved.

Sadly I don't have BT sports so I'll look for a dodgy stream
