    O/T:- Minute's applause for a dead duck

Is today the day football has "jumped the shark" on the issue of when or when not to pay tribute to the recently departed?

Wigan Athletic had a minute's applause for Keith the Duck this afternoon, a pet belonging to a supporter. A picture of the duck appeared on the scoreboard.

It's funny and a great story, but these tributes are completely meaningless and a waste of time now aren't they?

Probably not if it's your duck.
