    O/T Contacting GP Surgery

Last Friday late afternoon I got a text from my GP surgery, to contact the surgery

So yesterday Tuesday I phoned, the call went into a queue, after 5 mins gave up,
then tried again later, again after 5 mins gave up.
My wife said later, phone again & wait in the line to speak to someone, so I did
this, I was call number 12 in the queue, so waited on hold.

Eventually after being on hold for 2 hours & 18 minutes, someone answered, I
told them who I was, & that they had left a message, saying I had to contact the
surgery, the lady said we will have to phone you back, she could not get my info
    up on the screen.
Five minutes later the surgery phoned, I told the lady that the surgery had
messaged me to contact the surgery.
The lady then said what have you phoned for, what do you want, I replied I
wanted to know what the surgery wanted, has they had contacted me.
Plus telling her I had been on hold on my phone for 2 hours 18 minutes.
The lady said I had asked for some medical paperwork a few weeks ago, & wanted
to know if i had received it.
I replied yes, I picked it up, & signed for it, the lady said they had not ticked off I
    had received the paperwork.
Why couldn't they have just put in original message, have you received paperwork,
if you don't contact us, we know you have it, or no longer require it.

What a criminal joke. You're now more likely to see a Millers appearance by Curtis Tilt than a doctor in this country...
I haven't managed to speak to one in 2 years.
With their wages at well over 120k a year since great uncle warmonger gave them 'budgetary control' - WHY are we putting up with these Blackstocks of the NHS????

I think the pay for a salaried GP is somewhere between £63K and £94K, a bit short of your £120K but no bad, I have to admit. Senior practice partners may earn more, I don't know.

    That's a bit of a generalisation.
I'm registered at Kiveton Park surgery and can usually get an appointment the same day or the following day.
It has always intrigued me how they can do things so well while others seem so poor.
Perhaps those surgeries that have problems could benefit from investigating the procedures and processes at the better ones to establish where improvements can be implemented.

And do you think dumping a minimum of 20,000 Afghans and 15,000+ dinghy people per year is going to make the situation any better?

    Or for schools?

    Or for housing?

I had a text message today saying I needed to make an appointment for a blood test for my diabetes review. Was 7th in the queue as I needed to go near the surgery for something else I called in to be told there’s a national shortage of bottles and they are not expecting a delivery for nearly 3 weeks. Surely they know the quantities required on a repeat order basis! And why send the text if you can’t make an appointment.

But they are made of plastic and under pressure from the environmentalists

So the companies that make them are looking at whether or not it is a profitable product line. They aren’t charities, so plastic bottles including medical ones are getting more expensive to produce.

Supply logistics in all industries are in disarray at the moment.

On the subject of waiting times in the health industry, don't just think it's the NHS, it's just as bad here in the US. Just because you pay for and have health insurance it doesn't mean anyone will see you at the drop of a hat. My daughter waited 6 weeks for a test on her ears and the day before it was due she was contacted and told it had been re-arranged for in 3 months time.

    Yes indeed

But here in the U.K. we are a crowded island with resources that are maxed out particularly in major towns and cities

But still we have loonies that want to add more to that population and then sit back and complain when their access to those limited resources are further compromised

Talking with a mate the other week, his partner works in a GP surgery as a receptionist. She told him her particular surgery is going to remain as non contact for GP’s and patients going forward.

Yes they have made it so easy for them now. All you get from ours is a phone call to discuss your ailment some two to three weeks after you initially called!
