    ……… Gyökeres !!!

At the Khaled presentation he spoke about his bemusement regarding a player that went to Coventry when he was lined up to come to Barnsley.
I didn’t catch his name during the presentation - but I’ve since read that it was Gyökeres.

I’ve just watched the highlights of the Coventry v Fulham game.
    Ended 4-1 ……. against Fulham !!!
Gyökeres playing a major role scoring 2 and could have had 3.
Causing Fulham all sorts of problems.
    Clearly a great target striker.

    Point is this.
I’ve spoken about the gaping hole in the strike force that appeared during this summer’s transfer window when Morris got injured and the club knew Obbi wasn’t ready.
Ive asked why the club didn’t do something to fill that target striker gap.
Well the thing is ……. THEY DID.

On the evidence of watching Gyökeres - the club went after a player with the exact attributes that would have made a COMPLETE DIFFERENCE to where the club finds itself right now.

I can only assume that a player such as Gyökeres is being lined up for this January Window.

If that wasn't bad enough the recruitment team inexplicably missed Shayne Lavery who joined Blackpool for absolutely nothing upon the expiry of his contract at Linfield in June of this year about the same time we signed Devante Cole .

This kid is 22 years old ffs and has 6 goals in 12 championship starts .

This is supposed to be what we do .

There's absolutely no way that Gyokeres and Lavery wouldn't be attainable targets coming off a 5th placed finish last season .

The other lad who they've missed is 23 years old Elijah Adebayo who Luton signed from Walsall in the last January window for £300k .

A big strapping lad with five goals in ten starts this season for The Hatters .

Admittedly with the benefit of hindsight Adebayo was the smarter buy above the loan Daryl Dike who was never ever going to be our player .

This as I say is what we are supposed to be excelling on , young under the radar gems and that's three significant young attacking players we've inexplicably missed out on .

Instead we land a free transfer journey man and two Belgium's who aren't even remotely fit .

And this is a well run club , I'm calling b@llax on that .

    It’s beyond frustrating !!!
    I don’t know the 2 players mentioned.
But it’s evident that the threat of height and strength that was there last season - is NOT available to Schopp this season.

And I think fans should be asking - even with Ismael as manager - would Barnsley have finished anywhere near the top 6 last season without Morris and Dike ???

IMO - we would have been near the bottom.
We can lay a percentage of the blame on Schopp - but the vast majority of blame has to be laid at the door of the poor recruitment.

It’s not that the players brought in lack quality - but there is a big question mark above all 6 of these new recruits regarding the level of fitness to play at this level ( or should that be able to play the high press style?).

Watching YouTube clips of the 6 new recruits - we have a stronger squad than last season.
But this isn’t happening on the pitch at Oakwell as these new players are not capable of playing a full game - or are laid in the treatment room.
Plus of course some of the players that are still out were brought in to the club to provide that height and strength in attack.

Against Millwall that lack of height and strength not only a factor in our attack - but also played a major role in our defence for their goal.

    Beyond frustrating !!!
