Latest radio Sheff interview with Jo Laumann, muddled

Good interview - presumably from Andy Giddings.
On about 3:30 minutes Jo is asked about the tactics going forward - ‘is it going to be the direct tactics of Ismael or the possession football of Schopp?’
Jo answers - it’s going to be a mixture of the two.
Straight away the interviewer - who obviously realises the importance of what’s just been said, and that Morris and/or Obbi have to be in the team to play direct - comes back with a question - ‘so is Morris going to be fit then?’
    Jo answers - ‘yes’.

Then on 10 minutes Jo says - ‘we will not be playing direct football’.

    WTF !!!

Absolute CONFLICTING and CONFUSING messages currently coming from the club.

So is it any wonder then that this season the players are a shadow of what they were last season - this season players when they receive the ball you can see them often looking around wondering what to do with it.
    That didn’t happen last season.
How many times did we hear Ismael say something on the lines of …. my boys know exactly what to do !!!

The players knew exactly what to do when Ismael was in charge because if there wasn’t a team mate that was close and in space to receive the ball they knew they had the option of hitting either Morris or Dike with a longer ball.
There were players available in a forward position with the STRENGTHS to battle and win the ball - hold the ball up - then provide time for other players to move into a position to receive the ball.

The 343 system relies on the option of releasing the ball earlier - hence the 3 players already upfield and available to receive the ball.

Since Morris and Obbi have been out injured for most of this season we have not had the option of hitting a target man early.

So why continue with a 343 formation?

It was Ismael who introduced the 343 system from the 352 system that Struber played.
Specifically because Ismael wanted to have the option of having more players in a forward position if the ball was to go long.

However Khaled then goes on to say that Schopp had been told by the directors NOT to use the direct tactics but to play more possession football.

If tactics moving up the field are to be slower based on possession football - shouldn’t there be more players employed at the back and especially in midfield to receive the ball ???

So in that case - shouldn’t the formation have been changed from Ismael’s direct tactics of 343 and reverted back to the possession based formation of 352 or even 451 ???

The successful tactics of Ismael were as plain as day to understand - and consequently easy for the players to understand.
From the start of this season the tactics of Schopp have been difficult to understand.
But is there any wonder when, as Khaled has said, that Schopp was getting instructions from the directors on what tactics to play.
The recent interview by Laumann on Radio Sheffield indicates that confusion still reigns at the club.

It’s looking like Asbaghi has got his work well and truly cut out.
Other than not understanding the Championship and it’s players - he’s got to change the successful tactics - that have been DRILLED into his players from earlier this year.
While at the same time having to listen over his shoulder on how the directors want him to play.
