Purely out of curiosity, would someone be able to direct me to where Mace refers to NCM? Was it in a Magpie Circle episode?
I used to listen regularly to the Magpie Circle, but stopped as I found I was getting increasingly wound up by Paul Mace. I've seen the thread on here discussing him and it seems I am not alone in that experience. I suspect Paul may have seen it as well, and that it has something to do with his apparently very negative view of NCM!
The last straw for me was after the Halifax game talking with Mark Stallard where he made some utterly ludicrous comments implying some sort of cult of personality existed around Ian Burchnall. Obviously some fans like Ian (including me) and some don't, but I have seen absolutely nothing like whatever he was on about. At a time when there was plenty of criticism of IB flying around after what is still our worst defeat of the season, it was particularly perplexing.

It was one of the match previews, all he did was ask people in his chat to be respectful and that it shouldn't be or isn't ltwitter or NCM.
From the way people are continually crying about it on here though you'd get the impression that he'd gone on a 10 minute rant - singling out individual posters for a public shaming.
To be fair, he said something along the lines that "it shouldn't be or isn't twitter or the cesspit of negativity that is NCM".
It's not something I've ever listened to, but that comment is very insulting to the vast majority of good posters on here. How respectful is calling NCM a "cesspit"? It has to work both ways.
People on here were having a go at him (including personal insults) for having an opinion on Notts half a year ago, I expect that's why he made that remark. His original crime was suggesting that we hadn't seen anything yet if Notts failed to make the play offs, which was fair comment, it would have kicked off big time on social media, no doubt about it.
Unfortunately it can be something of a cesspit of negativity at times from certain posters. And whilst his comments are certainly a significant over generalisation I can see the angle he is coming from. I don't care much for his podcasts on the whole though. Although I better be careful not to be too negative! they are often very drawn out and extremely biased as others have mentioned. I didn't mind his book.
