They only discovered Omicron 3 weeks ago but it's supposed to have killed someone already. One thing is 100% certain, whatever caused the death of this person it was NOT Omicron, he/she died from some other cause altogether, after having recently tested positive for the virus.

At least Boris and Javed were careful enough to say he/she died with Omicron, not the ScotNat though, this little turd went full pants on fire, saying this was a death from Omicron. Lying is just second nature to these people, it means nothing to them.

Oh yes, outwood, a massive increase in people with mental health problems is on the horizon because they have all been worrying unduly about what might or might not happen and all because of the incessant efforts of the media. All very sad. Que sera, sera ---whether you worry about it or not. C'est la vie!

This arrived on the Daily Telegraph website at 7.15 tonight, while our Mad Scientists and fruitcake politicians run round like headless chickens, in SA it's on the retreat, just three weeks after kicking off.

"South Africa’s omicron Covid outbreaks may already be running out of steam. Country’s virus death rate now one in 200 – the lowest it has been throughout the pandemic and 10 times lower than last September."

Omicron outbreaks in South African hotspots may be running out of steam less than three weeks after the new variant was identified, data suggests. Cases in the province of Gauteng – which had surging infections from November – appear to be levelling off, while seven-day infections in Tshwane, one of the early epicentres, are now "relatively flat". Although recent days have brought large spikes after a computer update led to an extra 37,875 cases being included in the daily count, experts have pointed out that the increases are far shallower once averaged by specimen date.

Louis Rossouw, of the Covid-19 Actuaries Response Group in South Africa, said that although the country had surpassed the peak of previous waves some areas were beginning to see a lull. "Case growth is steeper than last week but still has slowed down versus November," he said. "In Gauteng, cases are still levelling off. Tshwane cases are relatively flat, with a slight increase in the most recent days."

Statisticians in South Africa have also noted that the case fatality rate – the percentage of people who go on to die from an infection – has fallen considerably since the arrival of omicron. With the delta variant, around three per cent of infections – one in 33 – were resulting in death, but now that figure has slumped to 0.5 per cent – one in 200 – the lowest it has been throughout the pandemic in South Africa and 10 times lower than in September last year.

    Don't panic Mr Mainwaring.

Some people smelling a rat already.

"A lack of transparency over the UK's first Omicron death prompted fury today, as professor of medicine and consultant oncologist Karol Sikora told the Government to release more details to stop 'unnecessary alarm'. Boris Johnson revealed the UK's first death due to Omicron on a visit to a vaccination clinic in Paddington, west London, but did not reveal the age of the person who died or if they had underlying health conditions, which made them vulnerable, or whether Omicron was the leading cause of their death or a secondary factor. Experts are now demanding answers about the fatality, such as the individual's vaccination status and if they were part of group vulnerable to Covid."

Of course they can demand answers, but answers will come there none, because this patient did not die from Omicron, they just want you to believe he did.
