    If we go down...

...and it's not a very big 'if', unfortunately. would you want us to stick with Howe?

I would. I've seen enough improvements in our play to suggest that, when he has better players, we'll be good to watch. I like his style of football but I also like him as a man-he carries himself well and is someone I feel proud to have representing us.

I would as well, he's taken teams up before and in Chimpo we're not going to get a truely world class manager.

He's proved himself a few times with promotions and with nowhere near the positive assistance he has now.

What he has shown is that he is an honest communicator and that is rare in this business.

I think Howe is doing a great job. What encourages me the most is all of the comments about work ethic, attention to detail as well as how he holds himself in the press.

He's already shown what he can do with some players in a short space of time - but let's see what he can do when he gets in some quality players he wants. I think the results would be pleasing to most of us.

Then again, I'm not too fazed if we do go down - was fully expected at the start of the season, and we had no hope then. Now we have hope and ambition. I don't think there's a toon fan alive who wouldn't take a relegation to have got rid of Ashley for our new owners with hope and ambition!

My only fear if we go down is if the PL change the rules on ownership while we're away (not that there'd be any guarantee of getting straight back up again either).

    Yes.

What we (and Howe) need is a SERIOUS defensive coach.

That is the only way we can practically do a full team rebuild with solid yet unspectacular young, hungry players.

It would be downright stupid not to keep a hold of him, even if we do go down.

Let's get some stability at this club now, starting with the head coach.

What I would like to see, if we go down or not, is the appointment of a proper Director of Football who has an eye for young, talented players that we can buy and build a team around. Combined with experienced players of course.

I think that would be a suitable and good way of building a new era at the club.

I personally can’t see us escaping the drop so would keep Eddie to rebuild. He has a lot of deadwood to get rid of that’s for sure

Looking at the table, we are not cut adrift. We are in the sh'it along with a few teams around us on 13 and 16pt. Yes, some have games in hand but there is no assurance they are going to win their games either.

Writing off the Man U game, we then need to put together the run in January. It is our next few games that determine our chances. With just 10pts, by now, we would usually be dead and buried but there are other strugglers around us. Don't forget that Covid will likely postpone some scheduled games and bring us closer to that January window. It will delay others pushing on and leaving us at the bottom of the table. Of course, they will spend too but I fancy our chances in the market with owners that will SPEND - just jerk us around until the window closes and says that we can't get people over the line.

January - how we play and who we buy - will determine our survival. If we are there or thereabouts by February, we shouldn't give up just yet. A lot also depends on how others currently around us play.
