…….. that a Facebook page has been dedicated to Conway Out.
I don’t think they are that bad.
OK - they made a terrible decision ditching the successful tactics of last season.
And something went wrong with the Dike deal that would have greatly improved the fortunes of the club on and off the field this season.
But other than that - what else is there ???
Moved £750k about in the company - but that’s normal in business.
Closing the West Stand.
Which IMO was a smokescreen to move the development of the ground forward.
It seems that the dispute over the development of the ground has put the brakes on the directors plans for the club.
This 3rd party interference needs sorting ASAP - because once sorted it would then reveal the owners intentions - whether that be a small investment in the ground or something grander.
The option of moving to another ground I suspect is part of that development plan.
Moving away from home is going to cost the owners £££millions so one would think it would only be temporary.
Although that option has been dropped now - why it was floated in the first place should have been made clearer.
But looking at the football side of things - if you set aside this season - these owners have been quite good.
Other than Morais all the managers they have appointed have been good.
Supporters may single out Schopp as being a poor manager.
Schopp’s record before coming to Barnsley was a good one.
But obviously his hands were tied if the directors were telling him how to play.
Given a free hand and an experienced midfielder and target striker then I believe Schopp would have been ok.
Asbaghi has also picked up the mess left over from the change of tactics imposed by the owners.
But if you look at the squad - anyone who has supported Barnsley for a number of years can see that it’s a solid squad that is better than most squads of the last few decades.
A decent cake has been baked - it just lacks a bit of icing.
The frustrating thing about the team is that everyone can see where the icing is needed - and as the owners are supposed to be wealthy why arn’t they putting their hands in their own pockets to finish the cake.
Most supporters agree that the owners ‘shouldn’t go crazy’ - but they should at least finish the job and provide a rounded squad.
The present squad is lacking in experience in midfield and insufficient target strikers have been appointed to play (if need be) the successful vertical tactics of last season.
In summary - the 3rd party issue has stalled the club going forward - and a massive mistake has been made interfering with this seasons tactics, that will probably result in relegation - but other than that the owners have moved the squad forward - it just needs the owners to invest a bit of their own money to acquire a sprinkling of experience that would benefit the young players.
Once the team starts winning again the opposition to these owners will die a death.
The current trend is to berate these owners at every opportunity - so I realise these views will not be the views of many.
But they are my honest opinion.
