    Sutton Post match autopsy

A shocking display - no heart, no guile, no skill. Shocking

Howard 5 Saved us from a much heavier defeat
Senior 5 Decent but nothing to play forward to.
Armer 4 A shame about the header that hit the post
    Macdonald 3 Bossed all afternoon
Guy 2 Simply not good enough
    Dickenson 2 ditto
Mellish 4 Runs his heart outbut has the football skills of a 3 legged donkey
Simeu 3 Not the best of starts
Patrick 3 A ffew runs but no end product
    Omotoye 3 ditto
Whelan 1 If he doesn't want to play he shouldn't be on the pitch. He was more concerned about his socks being up.

KM not good enough wrong tactics wrong team just wrong. He had better learn and quickly. WE NEED A FRONT MAN

Can’t argue with any of that, though I’d give Howard a 7 or 8. As the commentary said ( I had earphones in) he was our best attacking force.

Admittedly Feeney has made a couple of mistakes in recent matches which have led to goals.

However he is young, promising and is at least our own player.

Today he was replaced by a 19 year old loanee (presumably guaranteed a game by Millen) who will be here for no more than 4 months and made more mistakes in 90 minutes than Feeney has all season.

The consequence of the change was that the defence was disrupted and MacDonald (who depends on Feeney to organise him) was back to his early season uncertainty.

In front of them the move of Patrick to wide midfield (presumably to accomodate Mellish upfront) meant that he was too far back to make use of his main asset (pace) and his lack of defensive ability meant that Senior had little defensive support in the first half.

Up front I though Otomoye was doing reasonably well, despite being asked to plough a lone furrow. So why take him off and leave the plank on?

Things improved a bit when Gibson came on and Alessandra looked a class above the rest when he came on. Having said that, all you have to do to achieve this is to be able to pass the ball to another Carlisle player when you are in the opposition half.

However the damage had been done in the first 45 minutes.

On this occasion I have to blame Keith Millen's team selection.

Easy double for Sutton in that they did not have to try too hard,we did not create anything of note. This usually applies to one area of the pitch but this was everywhere on the pitch. Its no good taking comfort from teams below us either because that is not a given either so dont even think it.
