I watched the last hour; they were 218/3 with plenty of balls spare. Total bottle job as per the blokes.

The women have obviously been watching our men bat. They needed 26 off 30 balls with 6 wickets remaining. 6 Aussie fielders were on the boundary so there were plenty of singles and twos available.
Yet they treated it like a one day game and started slogging and getting caught losing 5 wickets for about 20 runs. England finished 12 runs short with nine wickets down which meant a draw??? (Strange rules).

Yeah they went close to smashing the run chase record. But instead of focusing on the positives of taking it close, something the men couldn’t do, folk are sat on there sofas having played a few village games slagging off the effort. There hasn’t been many men’s games where a team has gone for it on the final day, needing 6 an over on a wearing pitch.
I was up watching the last hour or so and it was a great watch. Should we have won? Yes. I’d rather applaud the clear thinking of Lanning and her overall captaincy in turning the game back. I would rather applaud England’s top 5 for making a game if it.
Bottle jobs.
Women's cricket, football, tennis, nobody cares 😴
Dubious LBW x 2 = irresponsible batting.
Trying to get bat on ball from a bouncer, getting caught behind = irresponsible batting
Getting caught in the deep, having already hit a couple of sixes to put England in the game = irresponsible batting.
This all in the last hour.
The fact England went at 6 an over on a wearing pitch seems to carry no weight with you. The fact they batted the way they did throughout the innings gave them a chance. We had a couple of overs of trying to dab it about, and ended up scoring 2 runs. It really wasn’t a track where you simply get bat on ball to score a run, especially when they were bowling leg side wides or slow ball bouncers.
Waving your bat like a fly swatter to a bouncer = irresponsible batting
2 of your better batsman trying to hit the ball out of the ground with 6 fielders on the boundary when you need less than a run a ball to win = irresponsible batting.
Getting run out when there wasn't a run on = irresponsible batting
You can dress it up as much as you like England with 6 overs to go and 6 wickets in hand needing 24 runs should have won that match.
Very harsh to be critical of the women's team in my opinion. Yes, they didn't take advantage of the winning position they had earned, but at least they showed guts and fight against superior opposition to get to that position, unlike the men.
They deserve praise far more than derision for taking the game to the wire.
