    OT/ Swedish air space violated.

    From Sky news...

Four Russian aircraft violate Swedish airspace ban
Multiple Russian aircraft were photographed in Swedish airspace on Wednesday, despite it being closed to the country.

Two Russian SU-27 and two SU-24 fighter jets briefly entered the country's airspace east of the Swedish island of Gotland in the Baltic Sea.

Sweden announced last week that Russian flights would no longer be able to travel over the country from 28 February, due to the invasion of Ukraine.

It said it was taking the situation "very seriously" in light of recent events.

This to me is where this could kick off big time. Remember the downing of the civil jet by Russia/separatist a while back?
Happens frequently in war zones. So I wonder who is going to escalate the conflict with an inadvertent missile strike in something that is outside the conflict.

Only a matter of time. Who would it benefit most?

Whilst Russia are stoking the fires incursions into foreign airspace are nothing new for them. They've made fairly regular incursions into our airspace over the years to test air defence readiness.

Their submarines enter our waters as well. The Cold War never ended, it just thawed slightly when placed on the backburner. It was only a matter of time before the former head of the KGB popped it back into the freezer.

The margin for error is narrowing.
While these incursion went on regardless....people will start getting jumpy as we are in war territory now.
    Mistakes happen I'm sure.

Putin's aim is for a buffer state between Russia and NATO. It's not to start a world war and the destruction of Russia despite his posturing.
The west don't want a world war either which is why they won't go into Ukraine.
China are the fastest growing economy on the planet so a world war won't benefit them much either.
The day's of the great conquerors are over, Hitler was the last.
The next war wouldn't involve armies.
I can see a lot of posturing and brinkmanship coming before this is over.
The only way anything could kick off is by accident or an itchy trigger finger, but even then communication between the two side's would come first.
The closest we came to war was the Cuban missile crisis, but Kruschev said that he wouldn't have started a war, although Kennedy was seen as the victor, the American's had to remove missiles from Italy and Turkey as compensation.
The press of each country depicts history in a favourable light for their own people.

I remember Putin wanting to join NATO in the early part of this century.....
