For reasons too numerous to mention, the current government is very unpopular but ...

.....a week before the next General Erection each house in the UK will have a wheelbarrow full of £50 notes wheeled up to it. You can keep the cash and the wheelbarrow.

So do not believe that the current unpopularity of the government makes it a certainty that it, and particularly its leader, are doomed.

Oh yes, the public soon moves on. As soon as a newer bigger headline news item occurs then all other sins are forgotten. The Met (the most corrupt police institution in the entire universe) will take ages to produce its report which will totally clear all concerned with PartyGate.

Lump on Boris Johnson to lead the Conservatives to an overall majority of at least 40 in the General Erection.

I saw once on Have I Got News For You that some political party or other waited until there was some bad news before realising a statement that got buried under the headlines of the big story,do you think that the conservatives quietly welcomed the invasion of Ukraine to deflect the attention that they was getting with Christmas party's during lockdown or am I being cynical?

I mean yes, the invasion of Ukraine is useful to this government because it removes from the news media any mention of PartyGate and the threat to get rid of Boris Johnson.
