    O/T - Torn.

What a fabulous updating of this great song.

She’s aged well as well, this is a class recording with the BBC Orchestra.

I have always hated the song, I am absolutely gutted they have updated a one hit wonder that I was beginning to erase from my memory after twenty odd years.
There is too much of this type of s hit on the radio these days, usually by run of the mill soap stars who suddenly feel they have to do a cover of a song.
I only listen to Absolute, stuff like this wouldn't be tolerated.
I blame Kylie, she started the whole thing off. Soap stars should stay in the soap's where people like me can see them, not clutter the airwaves with garbage because the character they were playing had been run over by a car. Yes, her out of EastEnders was another one.
People buy rubbish these days, instantly forgettable tuneless mediocrity. The sort of stuff you would every day to lifers as a punishment or to people in an old people's home who don't know what day it is.
I have always hated gimmicky songs, too many have prevented class songs from reaching number one.
There are some great artists out there, there always have been, but you won't find many of them in the charts which is full of mainly meaningless, mediocre drivel.
Even the seventies had loads of rubbish in the charts, like Osmonds, Bay City Rollers and Lieutenant bloody Pigeon.
I am hard to please though, I always thought Elvis was an overated puppet, so Natalie isn't going to cut it with me. Sorry.

    Lovely morning again though.

Must admit that I always quite liked the original. Tbh, the older I get, the more tolerant I am about music. Although I always liked The Beatles and Abba, from a ****ager upwards I was one of those who avidly listened to John Peel on the lookout for new and interesting bands that were different and was a bit snobbish, for want of a different word, when it came to the "pop" music on the radio or TOTP. Whilst I got into punk and indie I also got into Northern Soul and Reggae. As I played guitar that led me into exploring the history of blues too and I think if you play any instrument you become aware of different genres. Today I have quite a broad musical collection and allow myself to even enjoy some "pop" artists as my "guilty pleasure"-I even listen to some choral music and opera if the mood takes me which may be a sure sign of getting old!😀

My favourite type of music is probably classical, I always had Classic FM on when I worked for the council. Very relaxing and soothing in a bustling world.
Do you know I would only have to listen for a few minutes and I would be as fast as a rock.
    Happy days.🙂

Torn is hardly The Birdie Song or Agadoo Des!

It’s a well crafted song and beautifully sung, I’m not a music “snob” personally, I think it’s a classy rendition.

I suppose you’ll think this “silly song” is rubbish as well even though sung by one of the greatest female singers in history in my opinion.

I prefer the Richard Harris version. Richard was entitled to to have a go even if he can't sing because he was a great and well respected actor.

Mediocrity of song and singer. Far more female singers that are way better.

Donna Summer - superb, Imbruglia - liked the original version, think she plays guitar on some of her songs too, average in the sense that there are many around that are better.
