    Huge Problem Yesterday

TGH after some brilliant games was poor yesterday ( it happens as he’s a kid and been brilliant ). Without his usual energy and tenacity this impacted on the midfield especially as Livermore and Mowatt usually go missing! Sadly TGH can’t do it every week and he’s been brilliant of late but a complete
S hit show if Livermore and Mowatt can’t step up!

I still question what Robinson brings to the game as he constantly goes missing so whilst Diangana is inconsistent there’s a footballer there somewhere.

Bartley was shocking yesterday too. Makes you weep when you think of past players like Dawson - Gmac - Jonas and Evans, some doubted Dawson but still doing a great job for West Ham!

Difficult to be excited about next year when 80% of the players will still be there. For sure with the teams coming down it will be much harder!

Under normal circumstances any away draw is a decent result. Unfortunately, we need wins at this moment in time and we have to look at yesterday's result as two lost points and not one gained. This is the situation that we find ourselves in.

Actually, when you factor in how the other results went.....and now have one game less to play it was probably worse because we can apply no pressure to anybody above us.....so reality starting to dawn that it is possibly over for this season......

As results go a draw away at Bristol was not too bad in itself.

But it does show once again what many of here have been saying for years that players are lacking in a right mental attitude

We have few what I call winners in the team, those with the desire and mental toughness to cease the moment.

Some of our previous players would have latched on to possibility of still making the play offs and put a prerformance in. We did the opposite again.

But going back to the days of Bilic when us and Leeds were almost home and dry many of the very same players we have today could not push on.

Mental resilience, drive, willpower are as important as organisation and skill at any level of sport.

We only have one warrior in our squad O’Shea, but sadly like the rest his form has been dire since he came back, shame.

As my old man use to say no spine

    Major clear out needed.

It’s not just desire and willpower though.

Take a look at their second goal again, a long ball lumped up towards our box, three or four of our lot attracted to the ball ( which they then didn’t win! ) and the geezer completely open at the far post to smash it home because nobody can read the game and track the runner.

That goal was Sunday morning stuff, apart from being able to find that much room to finish on a Sunday.

    Abysmal on so many levels.

Couldn’t agree more Mick! We are what we are - lacking quality throughout and a mid table team. I can perhaps accept that but can’t accept the lack of fight and desire.

Whilst Carroll is not the answer at least he shows grit and fight and only someone deluded would say otherwise!

Most teams have games in hand and a better GD. We can still make the playoffs but do we really want to? It would make the owners think we are better than we actually are.
Johnstone, Bartley, Furlong, Robinson, Livermore, Mowatt, Zohore Reach and Phillips all need to be gone and we need to rebuild.

Excellent Point Des and so accurate! My son put into context and said imagine the score if we now played - Norwich - Watford or Burnley!

We would be massacred!! Not one player of premier class including Johnstone as not worthy to even warm Ben Fosters seat!

Add Grant and Diangana to that list.

After the Fulham game I had hopes that we had truly finished bottoming out now and Bruce had got them all playing again, even if play offs still seemed out of reach. The formation suited us and, whilst we don't have a natural goal scorer, this allowed some decent link up play between Robinson and Grant and TGH gave much needed energy to midfield. To be fair, I think Townsend and Furlong normally show some desire (even if Furlong's defensive play and passing can be woeful) but the Fulham game showed that the rest of them too can display a better attitude and press and fight for balls. Even Livermore had a good game.

The Bristol game was shyte in comparison. Yes, TGH lacked the creativity and energy he has shown over recent games but he is young and guess an off day will happen occasionally, but what happened to the rest of them? Optimists might say that at least we didn't just capitulate as we have done in the past when going behind but the scoreline flattered us. As others have said, Robinson went missing (again), Mowatt was awful and Livermore nearly got himself sent off for a stupid challenge (again).

It's a mixture of both lack of quality and lack of attitude and it's the second that p isses fans off most. Need to be shot of a lot of these players and rebuild next season if we want to be top half of the table and have a fighting chance of even a sniff at promotion. Pretty much agree with WBA1955's list- although if no one offers us half decent money I would keep Johnstone . He is certainly no Foster but is a good shot stopper (which has saved us points in the past) even if he makes errors and I just wonder if we could get anyone better. I like Furlong in as much as he puts himself about but the stats don't lie and he isn't good enough. Mowatt hasn't been the same since his mate Val left, Robinson is a totally different player to how he was in the Prem. and goes missing, Bartley, Livermore and Phillips are past it, Reach not good enough and don't know what Zahore does tbh except collect a fat wage.

An awful lot to do and glaringly obvious that we no longer have a "spine" to the team anymore
