Another sign of the utter failure of Carlisle United.

Jack Iredale made a comeback from injury yesterday in the 2-1 win at Wigan. He is out of contract at the end of the season, and Wigan, Preston and others are after him. A Cambridge coach said he was the best left back in div1.

Because Cambridge can only afford a small squad, Iredale has played in every position on the left hand side, and his performances at centre half have been class apparently.

Ive never seen him play as i dont go anymore, i dont think you should watch Carlisle either, but thats another thing.

Someone said that he needed a lot of coaching at Carlisle, and it seems on that score they let him go. How inadequate can Carlisle get, when they have to earn their money they cant be bothered.

Cambridge wont resign him, they cant afford it, and who wants to play for Cambridge anyway. If i was a footballer i wouldnt, and i am a local.

When did Carlisle go down to non league, was it the nineties? And you are still going?, why? Stockport and Wrexham will come up, which means you will be playing in a league of 22, most of whom have more money than you.

There is a whole host og bigger clubs waiting in non league to come up, much bigger clubs than you, much bigger. Chalkys lot for a start, Chesterfield, Solihull, Yeovil, Kings Lynn.

Ok, im joking with Kings Lynn.

You are broke, the football side of it is a disgrace. Your directors are probably siphoning off money, siphoning means taking it.

How are you going to persuade cumbrians from going round poundland on a saturday afternoon, or rooting around in tescos bins. How can you get people to invest in a dying football team on a winters tuesday evening?, away from Corry and Emmerdale?

YOU CANNOT.

Watching a candle burn for warmth will be better than getting a frost covering at Brunton Park, or a dousing in rain that wont stop.

Psychologically speaking it is better to tie an anchor to your ankle and jump in the Atlantic. People, especially cumbrians are not going to spend twenty quid on an hour and a half of kicking a ball around badly.

Your club is spent sadly, only the dying embers are left, and no one knows how long it will be before your final breath. A hint for the future when Carlisle are no longer. Skateboarding, chess or knitting. I take no pleasure at this state of affairs, far from it.

Guffawing, sniggering, putting my hand over my mouth and laughing is for others, as i know that there go i one day. Not in a footballing sense, but Cambridge will be quick to follow when tumbleweed blows across Brunton Park.

Iredale, the last footballer from Carlisle. The crew you have...... they are pros, in the sense of effort, but are as useless as a an ashtray on a motorbike in a football way.

If I remember rightly Iredale was ok in a forward position but a disaster at the back. Maybe Cambridge have been stroking his ego and Carlisle weren’t prepared to do that. Anyway, I go to Carlisle so that I support my team and can see players so have an opinion. You don’t go to Cambridge so you don’t get to see Iredale play so any opinion about him expressed by you is second or third-hand. Worthless basically.

If you’re in tears on a nice sunny afternoon when there are beer gardens open or, if you prefer, footy on the telly, then if I were you I’d consult a mental health professional.

I havent expressed an opinion about him, im just repeating what others have said. Cambridge saw something in him that your coaches did not. And they put the work in to get him to a standard. Yours did not or could not. Even if you kept him it would have been of little value as he would have been out of contract.

Carlisle do not hand out big contracts either. The bigger picture is that you have had thirty or forty years of hell for a reason. Emotionally you cant take that on board.

Never mind having an opinion on how to help. I am helping by bringing your attention to it.

By the way, four div 1 clubs are coming down, at least two, maybe three will be better than you, that leaves a league of 19, two relegation places, thats a league of 17.
