The club's liabilities are vastly more than the value of its assets. Its annual trading always results in a loss except for those rare seasons when transfer revenue makes up for the loss. The ground needs a lot of money spending on it in order to meet EFL standards. Philip Day wants the Purepay debt to be paid immediately. That debt is payable on demand. He has 'belt and braces' on this demand in that The Charge entitles him to take all Carlisle United assets including cash and when that does not satisfy the debt he has the Personal Guarantees of The Three. There is no sign whatsoever of any other party getting involved. Nobody wants to pay £2.7+ million in order to take over a loss-making company that owns few assets of significant value, for several obvious reasons Brunton Park is of very little value, it would not be easy to even give it away for free.

We have to acknowledge that the annual optimism about regime change being imminent is completely baseless.
