On 5 April, the UK reported an unexpected and significant increase in cases of severe, acute hepatitis of unknown origin in young, previously healthy children, all under the age of 10.

Since then, an increase in cases has been reported to the World Health Organization (WHO) by 11 other countries including Ireland, the US, Israel, the Netherlands, Romania, and as of Tuesday, Japan. On Wednesday, it was reported Canada is also investigating an undisclosed number of cases to see if they are linked to the outbreak.

The children affected range from one month old to 16 years old. One child has died, and about 10% of cases have required a liver transplant, the WHO said.

The majority of cases are in the UK (114 cases), with approximately 200 cases reported in total. It is possible the true number may be greater if there are children affected who are not showing serious symptoms and therefore will not have been taken to hospital for testing.

Not suggesting this isn't serious news, but 200 cases in total, worldwide, and we all run round like headless chickens? Ok so numbers may increase, but go back just over 100 years, to the last serious flu pandemic, 50,000,000 died, yes 50 million!! All, every individual death, a tragedy, but I suspect that the general health and wellbeing of the worlds population was BETTER at that time than it would have been had there been 24/7 rolling news, broadcasting doom and gloom scenarios in order to sell advertising, and the "social media" channels full of "influencers" trying to make sure they get a slice of the revenue pie.

Let those who can address the issue (at least livers regenerate, making inter-familial donation a stronger possibility), do so, and the rest of us get on with what life we have left.

Immune system development occurs early from birth and develops continuously until adulthood. with the lockdowns, masks and reduced or no contact with other kids/adults to expose them the normal immune system development stops. Bad things happen.

The other items is the development of these MRNA vaccines with no long term testing. No idea what the long term effect will be. These are not to be confused with the long standing and tested vaccines such as MMR, Tetnus etc. The old school technology has been around a long time and tested.

Of course, don't worry. As the Lurch John Kerry reminded us. The real threat is not Nukes, Disease or Famine. it's climate change.

Not sure governments will ever properly review the response to COVID and it is always hard to look back objectively when we have the benefit of hindsight but some interesting thoughts to consider:

6.5m people are thought to have died where COVId was mentioned in relation to the death (but accepting it may not have been the primary cause)

Around 9 million per year die from starvation.

Many more will die from the knock on effect of lockdown - the person who died recently I mentioned was only diagnosed with cancer in the last 3 months (those services were restricted due to lockdowns and there is a huge back log)

Covid was and is increasingly a virus that effects the elderly, the obese (especially those with diabetes) or those with other underlying conditions - for the rest not so much (albeit there will be examples within the rest.

Naturally acquired immunity is as strong as vaccine acquired immunity (see John Hopkins, see Israeli study, see BMA articles)

Lots of businesses have gone and won’t come back

The effect on those in education who missed out and will never get that back.

The world’s production cycle and network is massively disrupted due to COVId causing shortages and then huge inflation

Will we actually properly learn the lessons - probably not as much of the agenda is set by the 24/7 media headline cycle and humans don’t like looking back at problems.

The lessons I hope people learn from this are to enjoy life whilst you can and to try to be considerate and kind.

Also hope it leads to a review of the way in which many criminal justice systems lock people up or the notion that there is easy time.

We had only some of our freedoms reviews and many struggled and still feel the effect. There has to be a better and more humane way surely?

We also have the issue of mental illness. Many people at believe that masks and vaccines prevent covid. They also believe that locking kids at home instead of going to school worked.

You do realize that 80 % of the world's population has some form of disease right? Obesity has been the main culprit, Mental Illness diabetes, and Malnutrition on and on it goes. Lady at the supermarket I hadn't seen for 2 weeks and asked where she had been and told me had covid. Asked her what was it like for her she said shocking felt so sick for 2 days 2 f days lol wonder what she would have been like with out having her shots.

I guess I'll clarify my statement. Masks don't work for covid. If you smell farts through a mask (you do... I know from first hand experience) then you sure will breathe in the virus. It's 200 times smaller than a fart molecule. It's kabuki theater and it's a sign you supplicate yourself to some bureaucrat that want's to see if you are docile enough to walk into the cattle car. we all did. The kids are still wearing them at the local school. .00002% death rate for elementary school kids and they have to wear those symbols of compliance all day. Many of them can't even function without wearing them.

The vaccines don't work either. I know from first hand experience since I got covid in February of 2020 from someone that went to mickey mouse land and brought it back from someone from china. Later on I had to get the vaccine or I'd lose my job and I did. I still resent myself for bending my knee to some pharma company that made billions of dollars selling it to the government. They found out who the serfs were and who is going to cause problems down the road.

Natural immunity is the best prevention and I had it. I'm fine with people getting the vaccine that were fortunate and had not gotten covid but once you've had it you'll have way more immunity than this "vaccine" will provide. who knows what this vaccine will do the the young kids that had almost no risk of dying but still were forced to take it.

Agree with some of the above. not all (I suspect I'm not alone).

I never have, never will "supplicate" to anyone, or anything, at any time or in any place or at any time, under any circumstances, particularly now I have no-one that might suffer if I didn't. I suspect I'm not alone. We didn't all, and we won't all.

Vaccines DO work! The population of the UK are returning to some semblance of "normal" PRECISLEY because we have vaccination rates in the high nineties, across 1st, 2nd and booster levels, COUPLED with immunity generated from infection and recovery. Vaccines don't guarantee you wont get infected, they DO reduce the effects of being infected, THAT is proven. Suggesting otherwise simply makes any outbreak more likely to kill because people refuse to be vaccinated/boosted, do you want that?

I have had Covid, I have been vaccinated and boosted (3rd vaccination), my heart is scarred from the first infection, I'm alive because my body has been protected by the anti-bodies generated by natural immunity and the vaccines If you wish not be be vaccinated, so be it, suffer the consequences, as many hundreds of thousands have, from serious health degradation to death, that is your privilege, but please don't promote such selfishness.

As to the pandemic, there will be no "figuring out", people aren't interested in long term, only in the here and now, and those of us who have survived infection and its after effects should think long and hard about suggesting that people shouldn't protect themselves, depending on chance and luck when it comes to being infected and surviving.
