    Watford v Burnley Match Preview

First there was the weekend of hell with Everton defeating Manchester United while Burnley slumped to defeat at Norwich. Then came the weekend of heaven with Burnley’s win over Wolves taking them above Everton who were beaten in the Merseyside derby. At last the Clarets are out of the bottom three and now comes the hard part- staying out of the relegation places for the remainder of the season. The task begins at Watford on Saturday and Burnley must now improve their poor record against the clubs in the bottom six. Two clean sheets and two wins in a row is the perfect platform for the trip to Vicarage Road.

Caretaker boss Michael Jackson is likely to make few changes to his starting line up. Maxwel Cornet who missed the Wolves game with a minor knee injury remains doubtful for the trip to Watford so Matej Vydra is set to retain his place in the starting line up. Vydra’s neat sidefoot finish from Weghorst’s pass proved decisive against the misfiring Wolves and hopefully they can combine again to sting the Hornets. Lennon and Rodriguez have also both been troubled by injuries but could push for starting places. Watford have lost 5 of their last 6 Premier League games and have finished on the losing side in 13 of their 16 home matches. Roy Hodgson will likely pair Ismaila Sarr with Emmanuel Dennis in attack with Josh King as an option but will know that, nine points from safety, defeat to Burnley would all but seal their relegation to the Championship.

Burnley’s game kicks off at 3pm with Leeds facing Manchester City at Elland Road at 5.30pm. On Sunday, Everton will host Chelsea. After the weekends of heaven and hell comes what? The weekend of fire? Fortunes will certainly be tested and nerves shredded. A Burnley victory would clearly heap pressure on Leeds and Everton. The match referee is Craig Pawson with Stuart Attwell on VAR. The weather forecast is good with sunny intervals and light winds. COYC!

Watford without Deeney seem less of a threat, a bit like Palace would be without Saha. We should be able to take them if we play as we have done in the last 3 games. It will still be another nerve shredding game though, as will each one until we are 3 points above the drop with that better goal difference.

    Thank you Outwood.

Watford have picked up 7 points from 16 home games with 2 wins. We have 10 points from 16 away games with that solitary victory at Brighton. Win this one and we will finish above both Everton and Leeds I reckon.

....early goals should take the sting out of the Hornets (thanks Outwood) - and better for them if it Vydra that bags them.

this is getting a bit silly, we're being outplayed by Watford ffs.

    time to wake up.

Brownhill shoots - but it needs to at least be on target, had unmarked players in the box, a waste.

27mins...Mcneil goes down, Pen or no Pen...No pen, Freekick, Mcneil sends it low into the wall.

36 mins in and its still Watford who've had the better of it, closest we've gome it the sweet back flick from Vydra to lennon, across the box for Weghorst but fails to make contact.

get to half time without conceding another and Jackson can spin this, he needs to

it looks as if there's no plan....seem disconnected, back to hoof and hope !

    Wat for freekick...an obvious dive.

    Terrible FH....

    1-0

Hope it's not like Norwich all over again. We keep losing our bankers.
