In Washington State where I live there were over 31,000 car thefts last year of which only 104 were recovered. Police are putting the blame on a new law prohibiting the active pursuit of stolen cars. I've a feeling C.F. Booth might have some relatives living here who are doing a roaring trade. So far this year through May, thefts are 88% up on last year.

Grist, this table is out of date. Yesterday’s stats for the last 3 months say London was on 27% while South Yorkshire tops the polls at 29% with a car stolen on average every 6 minutes on the National league.

A car stripped for spare parts is worth twice it’s value from new such is the scarcity of spares nowadays

As for charging cable thefts Crash is about 6 month behind times. Its on the go with a chopped cable fetching £70 to a complete one making up to £300
