Played 1 game for us in goal 1998/99 season having come down from Glasgow Rangers, been told he has months to live.
He said :“I thought I had severe indigestion. It was as though my gullet was blocked. After a few weeks, it got worse and nothing was getting through. Everything I ate or drank didn’t get halfway to my stomach and I threw it back up. I couldn’t get a face-to-face with my GP for two weeks, by which time I was in total agony. I’d also lost 4 stone in four weeks. I had a CT scan at Monklands, then was rushed to Wishaw General and told my next of kin should be with me. That is when the alarm bells started ringing. I realised I had cancer.”
Incredibly sad, goes without saying he has all our best wishes.

Very sad to read, I'd understood that Andy was ill for some time. He was a great keeper, I watched him many times in the 4-5 seasons he played for Hibs and he was never less than outstanding. Even scored a couple of goals.
Wish him and his family peace in the time he remains with us.
Absolutely shocking news. Cracking goalkeeper back in the day. I remember the game he played for us as cover for Darren Ward I believe, meaning we had the Welsh and Scottish international goalkeepers on our books at the same time in League One!
We can only send him our very best wishes at such an awful time.
I remember I couldn't believe I was watching Andy Goram playing for Notts at the Lane. Yes only one game, and I'm sure we didn't win (memory says 1-0 loss?) But it didn't matter he was great that day and it was a guy I'd watch play for Rangers in the Champions League many times including the Battle of Britain.
Very sad news. Great goalkeeper.
Terribly sad news to hear. I’m sure all Notts fans and the club send their best wishes.
We’ve had many many players come through the doors over the past twenty five years who will be long forgotten. So for Andy Goram to make an appearance and make such an impact in the psyche of Notts fans shows how good a keeper he was. I recall when he played because Darren Ward was a permanent fixture at the time.
