    Neil Critchley leaves Blackpool....

Neil Critchley has left his managers job at Blackpool to become assistant manager at Aston Villa under Gerrard. After his assistant took the vacant QPR job. Bit of a backwards move if you ask me but each to their own.

Big loss for Blackpool by all accounts.

Which one's a backward step MT? To me the backward step is Gerrard's assistant leaving Villa to manage QPR not Critchley leaving Blackpool to assistant manage Villa.

I wonder? Do we think PW would ever leave RUFC to be assistant anywhere?

...and if so where? Clubs that play in Yellow and Green don't count

Perhaps a more interesting question is has anyone ever gone on to greater success after leaving a manager's job to become assistant manager elsewhere?

    I think it’s a bizarre move.
Blackpool have a new owner who the fans love and seem to be a team on the up.
Looking at his background and his age he seems to be more comfortable in a coaching role and dare I say, out of the limelight.

However, he only signed a 4 year contract at Blackpool last November which makes the move even more surprising as his stock was extremely high.

Wow that is a real shocker, I can only assume that he wanted to build on the fantastic season they have just had and been refused the desired funding, or it's just all down to the lure of the lira, either way its come as a shock to me. UTM

Maybe in his own estimation he thinks he’s peaked as a manager.

Do you think? You don't see many managers giving up their job to become an assistant somewhere else. Even if it is in a higher league.

It could also be that the pressure of being a manager got to him, and he prefers being out on the training ground and let someone else make the decisions. UTM
