Total bore-fest, the 2nd half is worse than the 1st, and that was dire.

😂 I wondered the same. Slow stodgy football in our own half in front of the opposition and clueless how to beat the high press.

Kalvin Phillips….seriously, what does he do? Must be f*****g great in training.

Too much at stake. Football is losing it’s entertainment value. Respecting the point is more important than ever.

It says a lot when the schoolchildren, who were let in for free, were booing at the end.

    Turgid football once again.

Nothing wrong with playing possession football at international level, because the last thing you want to be doing in tournament football where you play every three or four days is spend most of each game chasing the ball. However, it's possible to retain the ball and play a passing game with far more panache that Southgate's teams do, especially when you've got so many supposedly good players at your disposal. I think Southgate's record as England manager flatters him tbh.

Modern day football-dire. Bring back old school footy, The younger generation won't put up with it for long, plenty more options for them to do/spend their money on to be entertained

I watched the first half then watched something else. Same old England, no dynamism in attack and defence looks slow and can't handle a inventive attack scenario. Italy should have scored after 2 mins with a carbon copy of the Germany goal. I know it's Nations League but can't seem to get excited about England anymore. They're boring to watch, as Jackal says you need possession in international football but when you have it then do something with it. Other 'top' teams can but we look like we don't know what we're going to do with the ball.

I know I shouldn't get sucked in to watching England in this tournament, as it is clear Southgate is not bothered about winning it, and is more concerned about players welfare and politics, but the lure of a bit of footie is too great. I did at least manage to miss the kick off for obvious reasons though.

I thought Southgate was the man to lead us to World Cup glory at last, but we seem to be going backwards, (in more ways than one under him).

We have in Ward Prowse someone who plays more sideways and backwards passes than Ray Wilkins, surely deserves some sort of award for negativity. How you can play him and Declan Rice, (very good player in his role) in the same midfield and hope to create anything is a mystery.

As much as I like Trippier, he should not be playing left back, as there is zero chance of any quick, dangerous crosses into the box, when we do break forward. Surely we have a left footed player in this country to fill that role.

It seems to me that Sterling would much rather be on a beach somewhere than playing for England, maybe he is more suited to a beach ball anyway.
