It doesn’t surprise me, the illness is still widespread in many parts of the World, I believe. There are some awful diseases in the World and with climate change and increasing migration, they could very well spread to Europe. Mankind will always have to do battle with the microbes.

TB was a big killer in the UK well into the 50s and didn't really begin to be contained until the BCG jab was introduced for 10-14 year olds in 1953 but, as Ketts says, it's still widespread elsewhere especially in poorer countries. Seems that a few of these illnesses that were virtually eradicated in the UK at one time are being seen again.

Remember lining up for the skin test, before the jab, and the so called hard knock in our year fainted.

    Yep.

The six in one needle test that you had to wait to see if your body reacted to.

Never bothered me to be honest.

I didn’t enjoy having my testicles squeezed though when I was 11 years old.

    State junior school Des.

It was mandatory to have this done in the 70’s to check if your nuts had dropped properly!

At Ket’s boys grammar school you got your nuts checked every day!

Best be safe was their motto.
