I'd rather go for Jack Harrison, Pepe can look like a world beater once in every 10 games, way too inconsistent imo and Arsenal massively overpaid for him

Sounds like Arsenal trying to offload their craap onto a future rival to make room.

    Naah.

Harrison I don't feel is much better than Miggy, Fraser or Murphy. Sure he's turned up with 8 goals a season for the last 3 seasons but that is his ceiling. No one is expecting him to go up another level at 25 yrs of age, he's hitting peak.

Those numbers are very impressive and my reckoning is that Howe is the kind of manager that can get a player like Pepe to perform more consistently.

A loan deal in my eyes is ideal for all parties
    1. Player needs to re-establish himself after a couple of years of disappointing form
    2. We need a right winger - He plays for his future, inconsistent, he goes back to AFC at the end of the season
    3. A loan deal of £4-5m for the year is cheaper than £25+ million for a mediocre Harrison type player
    4. Not spending big this summer on a winger means we'll have big money to spend on Diaby next summer

Harrison Stats - compared to Pepe are a complete joke, the numbers don't lie.

Also we/Howe wants to be playing more on the front foot. Harrison is not a front foot player, he's of the similar model to Miggy in terms of high pressures / 90 and defensive dog work.

In our evolving system where we will be retaining the ball and controlling the game to a greater extent against most of the other teams in the league (bar the usual suspects MC & bin dippers etc) a ball playing winger like Pepe would be a better option.

However this is just one mad man's opinion whilst howling at the moon.

All the best lads n lasses, have a canny weekend!

Impressive research to back up your thinking, Raga.

It's still a 'no' from me, though. I just think he's the definition of a luxury player.

I understand your point. Stats v eyeballing a player often doesn't stack up.

I personally was shocked just how good his stats are based on the rumblings coming out of AFCTV and their fan base in general.

Would love the library clowns to take Murphy, Fraser & all the dross we've got/had over the last 10 yrs and really understand what footballing mediocrity genuinely is!

What will delight me is finishing above them this coming season!

“I do know, from what I’ve been told [by] Newcastle and people near the player, that Pepe is open to this. He’s open to any team in the Premier League. He wants to show himself as not a failure.

Gut still days no, but if the money/wages shared was low enough, on the last day of the window I'd give him a fair go on a try before buy against my better judgement - I do think theres a player in there somewhere but wouldn't pin my hopes on it coming out.
