O/T A poignant scene the other day

On my way to carp fishing I drove towards Stainforth. On my right was an awesome site, well to me it was. The Hatfield Main colliery site.

The headgear to both shafts were still intact and it evoked great memories of yesteryear and my coal mining years. Probably meant more as I’ve sadly just lost a very dear fellow miner friend.

Has anyone ever dove past an old workplace that made you think of being/ working there? If so do you miss the old job/ routine?

Worked at Park Gate Iron & Steel Company straight from school. Nothing at all left of the old part now, just the ghosts of the past.

So did I, did electrical apprenticeship then left to join MOD. Remember an overhead crane driver in the casting bay (pit road)
used to be a St Johns first aider and often could be seen on duty at Millmoor. Used to be known as the Flying Doctor after the old TV series.

Always nostalgic to see the chimneys at the Aldwarke site on TV whenever a steelmaking issue arises in the area.
