Exactly this! Have not been watching the ladies football competition so did not see what happened. Our media is corrupted from top to bottom by a group think mindset. I think there will be a change and a public backlash when we head into winter with higher heating bills and rolling energy blackouts caused by our folly in allowing foreign state controlled energy companies to buy our energy companies.

I find GB news to be the most honest.

Michelle Dewbury and Neil Oliver plus the old itv presenter whose on 4 to 6.

BBC and ITV, nothing of the protests in Europe

The main problem with the high energy bills which no one can avoid is the almost doubling in price of the daily standing charge.
Even if people reduce the energy consumption in their home they will still have to pay the daily standing charge.
The media should be highlighting this stealth increase in energy bills but they never seem to bother.

Who gets the more than doubling in my case of the standing charge per day. I agree that this seems to be excessive and would like to complain about it. Who should I complain to? As a bunch of grumpy old gits, in the main, I am expecting full name and address of the person responsible!!

I would imagine that you should complain to the regulator who sets the maximum price charged in April and October for electricity and gas prices. I think that it is called Offgen.
We are paying these ridiculously high standing charge prices to replay the electricity and gas billing companies who took on the customers of the ‘lame duck’ smaller energy billing companies which went bust.
In my opinion the customers of these electricity and gas billing companies which went bust homhad built up an outstanding credit balance should have become an unsecured creditor whilst those who were in debit should have had to pay their outstanding balance prior to moving to another energy billing company paying the standard charge for electricity and gas if required.
