Have heritage railways got a limited lifespan?

I think most people enjoy an heritage railway. I CERTAINLY DO! But are they long term sustainable with fossil fuels and oils running out.
They are still building steam locomotives today.
They have one at Bridgnorth that is 104 years old and still running. But how many parts of it are original?
A bit like Triggers brush aren't they?

A new steam locomotive is still way preferable to an old (or any) diseasal. I think that I remember reading that steam locos require a certain type of coal and the Severn Valley Railway was getting theirs from somewhere in Europe. Hopefully, though, there will be an adequate supply of coal for heritage railways for the foreseeable future, although it wouldn’t surprise me if the killjoys managed to put a stop to them. The amount of pollution put out by those trains is insignificant in the grand scheme of things.

You can also watch the SVR on livestream on YouTube. Lady of Legend is running today, this is a brand new rebuild of Churchward's Saint Class that became extinct years ago.

I subscribe to Railcam for £30 a year. It has a fair coverage of live streaming of the Heritage lines plus the main lines. Nothing better than seeing a steam loco coming over the Ribblehead viaduct

A few weeks ago I had a day out at the Bressingham Steam Museum, where they have three narrow gauge steam trains running, plus a good selection of other railway memorabilia. Well worth a visit.

They also had a Steam Punk event on, great fun!
