    Babysitting ?

Just singing away happily in the shower this morning, thinking how suddenly everything is well again in Claretland, when this slightly disturbing thought crossed my mind. We have a well respected, world class footballer as manager, he's a very big name indeed, and it's all starting to come together. If it carries on like this, scintillating football, loads of goals, even promotion to the the PL, some very big clubs, not just in England, but all over Europe, are going to be sitting up and taking notice.

One in particular, Manchester City, Pep has been there a long time now, he won't be there forever, Vincent Kompany is one of their favourite sons, I just wonder, are we babysitting Pep's replacement at the Etihad ? If so, best enjoy the ride while it lasts, two seasons tops is all I reckon we've got.

I wrote in the close season mon ami that Turf Moor is the stepping stone to the Etihad for VK and he cannot afford to fail.

On yesterday's showing he will not fail in his endeavours.

On top of everything else he is just so bloody likeable.

I assume you were singing “qué sera, sera”.

All we can do is enjoy it while we can. He is ambitious and will do his best for Burnley FC.

If he leaves a legacy of success at this level, with exciting flowing football, that is good enough for me.

I don’t think City will take him from Burnley. Unless he’ll take us to a CL final. If he takes us to the PL I think he’ll stay for the first season to see how he does. If he gets the backing and can build his team and the club I for one thinks he can stay, but of course he’ll be looking after his own career.

It's not just City I worry about Will, there's a dozen others or more, all over Europe, who will be keeping a close eye on the Kompany project at little old Burnley. We're babysitting him for some big club, somewhere in Europe, of that I have no doubt.
