How much is our annual U.K. energy bill?

Is this figure in the public domain?

Listening yesterday to businesses like chip shops saying that energy bills were going to drive them out of business really hit home.

Things are going to be bad for many individuals this winter but I’d not thought about business up to this point.

I think we need to scrap foreign aid immediately and slash wasteful spending and put huge amounts into subsidies for the truly needy and for businesses that are heavy consumers of energy.

Our priority is our own people and business, it’s time politicians understood this.

Until the bills start arriving nobody will wake up to the waste they produce.
Scandalous the amount humans still waste without consideration.
I spend half my time turning off water taps that people just leave running.
Lights left on all the time for no reason.
Waste food over here is a pure fcuking sin, especially as we had over a million starve to death barely two generation ago. People would want to cop on. It's not always about hand outs.
People need to change their habits and adjust fast to these new times. When you constantly waste, it becomes part of your culture. Society has become dominated by wasters.....

Said this for a long time Mick. Speaking to a small warehouse owner the other day who will shut up shop in January when his Xmas revenue is in as energy bills will be outrageous. A lot of businesses have not thought about huge energy increases but you wait once the bills hit or they come out of a fixed rate!

Boris said in Kiev this week the British will pay in high energy costs but Ukrainians will pay in blood. Not strictly true as people like him can easily afford the energy increases but the majority on low incomes can’t!!!

I hope the CEO’S of these energy companies can sleep at night with up to 10 times the profits of the previous year. To be honest I hope they permanently stay asleep!!!!!!

I hope all the filthy MacDonalds, KFC, Burger King, and Chinese restaurants go out of business before traditional British fish and chip shops.

Whoever is in charge of Ofgem seriously needs their head wobbled. They are so morally corrupt and are doing nothing about this energy crisis. Meanwhile Tory party members who have shares or some vested interest in these energy companies are getting richer while the average working class suffer. Amber Rudd, what is she doing these days? Hmm i hear is involved with and has some interest with British Gas. I’m sure someone will correct me.

Meanwhile in Europe they are not being ripped off as much as us. But let’s focus on those here who leave their taps and leave appliances running. We’re a G6 nation struggling like a third world country, punching above its weight thanks to voting for brexit with no collateral.

We are being conned blatantly. Time to nationalise our utilities. I wish more people would protest.. but Liz Untrusst is I hear passing a law to make it difficult to. Glad you all got your freedoms back and hope you all enjoy that pure sewage water.

    Time!

It’s at the point now where if you can afford it put solar panels on your roof, get a heat pump, insulate and become as self sufficient as you can. Government should be providing massive grants and subsidies and really focussing help on keeping firms and low income families going.

Agree with all of that but Heat Pumps are just one of many of the scams this gov are swindling us over DaveP67, it’s getting sickening with what’s going on.

I had a solar and gas heating specialist around to my house recently.

He strongly advised me against a heat pump even though he can fit them, he reckoned they are rubbish.

He said that gas is still the cheapest and best way to heat your home but it’s all about being canny with usage and only heating what you really need to heat and having a nice steady temperature.

Too many people heat every room and at a heat that isn’t required.

I have loads of rooms with radiators not even switched on through winter.

I’ve also reduced the number of lights I put on in an evening and switch off anything like the microwave at the plug rather than have on standby.

As for solar, good luck getting batteries, I couldn’t even get a quote as delivery for these is months ahead and we’ll into 2023.
