    Chris Wood

No doubt sitting on a very lucrative contract at Newcastle but the way things are going he'll be lucky to get beyond the bench.
Play or pay - what are his priorities?

Who knows what his priorities are, he certainly has nothing to prove.
Since August 2011, when he was on loan to Birmingham from West Brom, he has made 306 starts in competitive matches for 8 clubs and has scored 144 goals and he is joint second in Newcastle's leading scores this season.

Scored with one of his typical headers last night.

I wish him well. I think Howe prefers to play passing football, exploiting the pace and skill of Saint - Maximin. Wood does not really fit in with that style, at least not against PL opposition. I suspect he will feature in games like Tranmere, even then as a sub. Against PL teams - sub at best.

I'm pretty sure he scores at a ration of 1:3 in the EPL and that's not bad is it?

He has started 142 matches in the PL and come on as sub, sometimes between the 80th and 90th minutes, and he has scored 51 goals.
As I said earlier, he has nothing to prove at all and his defensive work is also excellent as he proved on Sunday against Man City when he came on.

I wish him well. One of our best players whilst in the PL.Those stats do not take into consideration that he was in a team that only had 2 or 3 chances per game.

And think how many he'd score if he wasn't offside every other attack.

Still insist Howe took Wood to weaken us no other reason , and for that I don’t like the man - the rot set in at tat point.

I agree, army. I am not criticising Wood. He did well for us, feeding on scraps.

My point is that, just as some who have leapt to his defence suggest that Barnes cannot adapt to how VK wants us to play, the style of play dictates the team.

Wood is more of an old - fashioned centre forward, often offside and cannot trap a bag of cement. With the players at Howe’s disposal (another 60 million signing on the way), I cannot see how Wood fits in.
